Sen. Arlen Specters recent switch to the Democratic Party has not done much to bolster his standing with Keystone State residents, according to the latest polling from Franklin and Marshall College.
Just 28% of those polled said Specter deserves to be re-elected next year, while a majority, 57%, said a change was needed. In March, prior to Specters party switch, 40% said he deserved re-election.
Further, just 31% have a favorable view of the Pennsylvania lawmakerdown from 42% in Februaryand 37% who have an unfavorable opinion, up from 29% in February.

Sounds like Spectre is a dead duck. Now if we can just get the RNC to back a conservative and not another RINO we can get something done.

He may be toast, but I wouldn’t look for Toomey to be the guy to toast him. There is a Democrat Congressman who is a retired Navy Vice Admiral who will probably take him down in the Dem. primary.

Doing the old coot a favor he doesn’t realize. Thinks he’s entitled to be ‘senator for life’. Go home and retire..enjoy the sunset years Spectacle and maybe ObamaCare will spare you from the magical elixir for the elderly.

It was a blessing for him to switch. I think the Democrats will run someone against him in the primaries.

Yep. They can read the polls too. See the Torricelli -> Lautenberg swap. The Democrats are entitled to run someone who can win, and that isn't Specter.

Specter got a guarantee from Obambi, Biden and Reid that they would campaign for him, raise large amounts of money for him and deter others from challenging him for the dem nod. I know the aforementioned could easily walk away from Arlen, but he is not the type of person to take that lying down. He would raise a huge stink, probably refuse to endorse the dem and would leave the dem party and become an independent caucusing with Repubs. He's a very tough politician, that's why he's been in the senate since 1980, and the congress before that.
