The patriarch of the Orthodox Church of Ethiopia says he will announce to the world Friday the unveiling of the Ark of the Covenant, perhaps the world's most prized archaeological and spiritual artifact, which he says has been hidden away in a church in his country for millennia.....
Abuna Pauolos, in Italy for a meeting with Pope Benedict XVI this week, told the news agency, "Soon the world will be able to admire the Ark of the Covenant described in the Bible as the container of the tablets of the law that God delivered to Moses and the center of searches and studies for centuries."
The announcement is expected to be made at 2 p.m. Italian time from the Hotel Aldrovandi in Rome

Good point...we won’t
What lies does Islam have about the origin of the ark?
From what I remember, (don’t quote me!) the mahdi is believed to be a boy decedent of mohamed. The heathens believe that he disappeared hundreds of years ago and will only return when the world is turned upside down with war and famine. Some believe that the heathen running Iran right now has been setting the world up for his final return. From all the research I have seen on the Ark, it usually ends up being in Ethiopia. One story said that it was under the temple mount in Israel a well. Perhaps the Christians are bringing it out to show the heathens to prove a point that their religion is bogus, OR it could just be the end of the world.
We are under a new covenant now
Who would?
The OT gives some instructions.
Until this story is confirmed by API, I’m not buying it.
What does it say?
I will say Made in China on the bottom.
I would assume carbon dating could define it’s approximate age and Jewish scholars could debate it’s authenticity. I suppose that no matter what it would likely become something akin to the Shroud of Turin as a previous poster said...
Interesting points about the Christians bringing it out to prove that the heathen religion is bogus and/or the end could be near.
Graham Hancock’s book “The Sign and the Seal” about his search for the Ark of the Covenant and concluding that it is in a Coptic Christian monastery in Ethopia. Go to http://www.grahamhancock.com
How do we know it's not a replica
Actually, the one on earth WAS a replica of the actual mercy seat of God that we will see in heaven.
Now is the one the Ethiopians claim to have the biblical one? Who knows. Does it matter? Like I said, we're under a new covenant now.
The important thing is not to turn it into an idol to worship (or ahem,”venerate”)
