The patriarch of the Orthodox Church of Ethiopia says he will announce to the world Friday the unveiling of the Ark of the Covenant, perhaps the world's most prized archaeological and spiritual artifact, which he says has been hidden away in a church in his country for millennia.....

Abuna Pauolos, in Italy for a meeting with Pope Benedict XVI this week, told the news agency, "Soon the world will be able to admire the Ark of the Covenant described in the Bible as the container of the tablets of the law that God delivered to Moses and the center of searches and studies for centuries."

The announcement is expected to be made at 2 p.m. Italian time from the Hotel Aldrovandi in Rome

There was nothing in the ark except the two stone tablets that Moses had placed in it at Horeb, where the LORD made a covenant with the Israelites after they came out of Egypt. 1 Kings 8:9

I would think it would not be Radio Carbon Dating as that is only useful with things that used to live. Now if the original litter poles existed that might be something you could date.

It would probably come down to endless debates about the inscriptions & whether they are faithful (pardon the pun) to what the experts regard as examples from the same historical period. Kinda like the Ossuary (bone box) purported to be from “James, brother of Jesus”.

Given all the forgeries found in the M-E — some that were regarded as authentic for generations — we’re bound to have a lot of skeptics.

God knows the end from the beginning. He knows who will choose and who will not to believe (John 3:17-18). We chose in our own free will. While our decision is free, He knows who will choose to believe in the Gift and who will not. Certain verses in those chapters (NT) make that clear. The OT chapters show that He knows all that is going to come to pass. That’s why He never fails in prophecy. You said He doesn’t know. He does. (just an fyi)

Peter (IIPeter 3) says there are/were three different heaven/earth ages. And the heaven/earth age that WAS perished. Isaiah and Ezekiel both describe the overthrow that Paul speaks of in Ephesians wherein the 'elect' proved their love by standing against the rebel the devil.

I am being very short and direct NOT ignoring the whole of Scripture but how the whole of scripture tells the plan. Now rather than just wipe out all the children who teamed up with the devil and those who just could not quite decide which way to vote until the popularity contest was held the Heavenly Father set a plan in motion that through the death of His only Begotten having come through this flesh age He would carry out the death sentence impose upon the 'first' rebel.

Hebrews 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are *partakers* of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same: THAT through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is the devil;

Now Isaiah 14:12-32 and Ezekiel 28:12-26 give 'details' that explain what Paul gets specific in Hebrews 2:14. And note we are NOT given this 'creation' of the anointed cherub that covereth in the Genesis creation of flesh vessels account. IT took place between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2.

In a related story, also on Friday, in Rome Father Guido Sarducci will reveal that he has in his possession the check from The Last Supper. Fr. Sarducci purchased the check for $500 when he accompanied the Pope on his recent trip to the Holy Land.

The check reveals that the amount was split evenly by The Last Supper attendees. However, one diner ordered twice as much as the other diners but paid the same as the other diners. That diner is believed to be Judas Iscariot.

Another startling fact revealed by the discovery of the check is that keeping with longstanding Jewish tradition no tip was left.

Who is suggesting “wiping anybody out?” I don’t know where you got that idea. What is your basis for such a statement? And, as I said, He does know, in each generation. I’m not beating you up but you said He didn’t know yet. He most assuredly does.

Matthew 10:28 And fear NOT them which kill the body, but are NOT able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him Which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

This is the 'wiping' out I made reference to as were it the desire of the Heavenly Father He had all the 'reason' He needed to wipe out all those who demonstrated their rebellion in what Peter calls the 'age' that WAS.

What we are told is that those who took a stand against the first rebel were set aside to be planted in each generation to keep the 'truth' alive.

KNOWING His plan and HIS will is not the same thing as knowing who is or who is not going to pass judgment day. The whole point of the plan and His will is to ascertain who is willing to believe and who is still enamored with the first rebel.

The Mahdi? Isn’t he that mythical Islamic dude who is supposed to rocket out of a well in Iran and then vaporize all the infidels?

Jesus is the Lamb slain from the foundation of the Earth. Long before the rebellion of mankind (following the former heavenly rebellion of Satan and the angels that followed him) God already established the redemptive plan. We’re not in disagreement on that. God still knows the end from the beginning. He boasts of it in Isaiah 44 and 46. There is nothing outside His knowledge.

I think you need to discover who the 'angels' were/are to better understand who followed the first rebel. Isn't there a place described where an angel was sent to deliver a message and when the flesh being bowed the 'angel' said NO, that he was a fellow servant. What does one call the 'soul/spirit' of those that return to the Maker that sent them? There is a Written discernment between those in flesh vessels and those who are no longer in a flesh vessel. And I am not talking about the 'arch' angels that never come through this flesh age as well as the first rebel, he is not going to be born of woman.

Oy vey. This thing has gone off in a direction I never sent it. God says He knows the end from the beginning. Makes it clear. Crystal clear. That’s what I’m saying.

I have heard and read the phrase Oy vey but I have NO clue what it means.

Now I do not have a clue what direction you had intent in going but Christ Himself said in John 3 the first requirement to 'see' the kingdom of God was to be born of woman as was He or more specifically into a flesh vessel. Jude addresses those that refused.

IF God knows who will believe in and upon His only begotten Son from the beginning then why did He put His plan into motion to have us all go through this flesh age? Because is He is perfect and it be His will that those who will be saved. BUT we are told that NOT all will make that choice, but that judgment as to who will or will not have salvation is left all to the Heavenly Father as that judge at a yet future day.

One of the funniest bits ever. Quite a statement about religious relics.

Thanks for the ping.

I wonder if the Ark will permit a sample of its wood to be taken for Carbon-14 testing.

Yes there is, to us humans we assume we’re making choices all the time. What does it matter if God has already made our choices for us and we are just part of His plan? We acknowledge God as all deserving of our love, trust, praise, etc. Why should it matter then, if He knows what we are going to do next or what will be a result of one of our choices 10yr from now? We don’t know, our choices certainly appear to be of our free will, our laws and societies are based on this. So to us, we make our own choices.

Since lifting a rock would require mass and be limited to His human form, then probably so...or maybe not.
