President Obama's name would grace a new Prince George's County elementary school a few miles from the White House under a proposal scheduled for a vote tonight, barely five months after he took office.
If the Prince George's Board of Education approves the plan, Barack Obama Elementary School would be the first in the Washington region named after the president. The school is under construction outside the Capital Beltway in Upper Marlboro and is slated for completion by year's end.
The school would not be the first in the country named after Obama. The Hempstead Union Free School District in New York voted to rename Ludlum Elementary School for him in November shortly after his victory in the presidential election. Since then, several other school boards nationwide have taken steps to name new schools or rename old ones after the president. (The honors haven't been confined to the United States: Antigua has plans to name its largest mountain and a national park after him.)...

PG County. Chief Moose deserves a school named after him long before Obama ever gets one...and Chief Moose didn’t do anything to earn it either.
Marlboro school for the Marlboro President. Many places, it is thought somewhat gauche to name a public building after a living person, but of course, that does not apply everywhere. Awkward is perhaps the saving grace here. They don’t KNOW they are being clumsy.
BFD, so what? He’s the 1st mixed race President of the most powerful nation in the world. I’m sure there is a school out there even named after Jimmah. Its a pride thing. Frankly I feel he is way over his head in his position and that he took on more than he can handle, but he did get there. 3 years 5 months to go. Grin and bear it.
They couldn't have picked a more appropriate school, as it is a known fact that this certain elementary school is the finishing and polishing institute for the local blood, crips, and ms-13 chapters.
That’s funny. So, do they take the diplomas away from those who actually completed the course work and give them to those who didn’t? Do they share the wealth of grades? “Hey you, yeah you, you have too many A’s. That’s not fair! You cheated someone out of their A.”???

He could end up over seeing the total destruction of America asw we know it. Great for the kids going to that school 15 years down the road................
Maybe they could move it next to
“The Jimmy Carter School of Domestic Economics”
Any kid that gets an “A” in that school deserves the ultimate credit, hopefully they will get a chance and receive a scholarship to some area private high school instead of being forced to attend the legendary “Hempstead High School”, where there are more metal detectors than text books in the building.
Will they start naming schools after Big Brother too?
