Science: The president's Council on Bioethics is summarily dismissed when it disagrees on the need for more federally funded embryonic stem cell research. The scientific method doesn't include firing those who disagree with you.Inspectors general are apparently not the only ones to pay for annoying the White House by doing their job. The 18-member council existed to provide the president with advice on the moral and ethical implications of the rapid advances in science and medical research. It exists no more. The council existed to ponder whether we should do something just because we can. Apparently President Obama wanted not advice but agreement on such matters, particularly with regard to one of the panel's areas of interest, embryonic stem cell research. So he has fired them.

Yellowbeard
How many viable therapies have been developed using embryonic stem cells? Oh yeah....absolutely none.
Embryonic stem cells cause cancer.
Obama wants embryonic stem cells used.
One can only conclude that Obama wants people like Michael J Fox to contract cancer.
We are right in the middle of the Progressive Dark Ages. Logic and science be damned.
bump & a stem cell ping
BUMP
The “Lysenko” philosophy of science is to be the new paradigm from the silly Obama MisAdministration. I hear it worked really well in the late Soviet Union.
Embryonic stem cells from another individual will cause one to be on anti-rejection medication for the rest of one's life.
Many of them will also turn cancerous. Gene expression from individual to individual is different and there is no way to know if the stem cell will form properly even in the proximity of the proper/desired cells.
Adult stem cells taken from the patient and reinjected will prove to be the only way to go.
He's "restoring science" again? Yeah, right...
