In my opinion, based on this story and what he said at the conference, he went down there to break up in person, because this separation made him realize he had to shape up. Sure, the first free time he has in weeks, he spends seven days and seven nights breaking up with his girlfriend, while his sons are talking to their imaginary friend on Father's day.
