Sanford's wife: He's earned a second chance....
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/ ^ | June 24th, 2009

Statement from First Lady Jenny Sanford I would like to start by saying I love my husband and I believe I have put forth every effort possible to be the best wife I can be during our almost twenty years of marriage.

As well, for the last fifteen years my husband has been fully engaged in public service to the citizens and taxpayers of this state and I have faithfully supported him in those efforts to the best of my ability. I have been and remain proud of his accomplishments and his service to this state. It is for that reason that I deeply regret the recent actions of my husband Mark, and their potential damage to our children. I believe wholeheartedly in the sanctity, dignity and importance of the institution of marriage. I believe that has been consistently reflected in my actions. When I found out about my husband's infidelity I worked immediately to first seek reconciliation through forgiveness, and then to work diligently to repair our marriage. We reached a point where I felt it was important to look my sons in the eyes and maintain my dignity, self-respect, and my basic sense of right and wrong. I therefore asked my husband to leave two weeks ago. This trial separation was agreed to with the goal of ultimately strengthening our marriage. During this short separation it was agreed that Mark would not contact us. I I believe enduring love is primarily a commitment and an act of will, and for a marriage to be successful, that commitment must be reciprocal. I believe Mark has earned a chance to resurrect our marriage.

I still like Sanford. His press conference was forthright

His chances at a presidential run are now zero, for good reason.

His only remaining chance in politics is that $90,000 in cash turns up in his freezer. Then he'd be qualified to run for congress as a democrat.

And Mrs. Sanford’s letter seemed, like Hillary’s studied coolness after Monica, way too calculated for my taste.

Exactly how long does it take to “break up”. He was gone how long?

There is absolutely no execuse for his behavior.

I sense it’s exactly what her divorce lawyer told her to say.

Sanford must answer to God and his family for his actions. And his leaving without ensuring that whatever happened in his state was covered was a mistake, although we can now see why he felt it was important not to let people know what he was doing.

Sanford should resign, period. His wife can't trust him and sure as shooting the citizens of his state can't trust him either.

Best thing for him is to resign and get right with his family.

I would say that it more likely means your Y chromosomes are in good working order.

He goes down, he breaks up, he spends a few days contemplating things before coming back to face the music.

In his conference he said he spent a few days down there crying.

In my opinion, based on this story and what he said at the conference, he went down there to break up in person, because this separation made him realize he had to shape up.

Sure, the first free time he has in weeks, he spends seven days and seven nights breaking up with his girlfriend, while his sons are talking to their imaginary friend on Father's day.

How in the world he thought he could take a week off in Argentina and no one finding out blows my mind. He must have wigged out.

My husband has a saying: “sin makes you stupid”.

Sorry Honey, I got no time for your meal ticket. Real men, conservative men can keep their zipper shut.

Go away.
