Sanford's wife: He's earned a second chance....
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/ ^ | June 24th, 2009

Statement from First Lady Jenny Sanford I would like to start by saying I love my husband and I believe I have put forth every effort possible to be the best wife I can be during our almost twenty years of marriage.

As well, for the last fifteen years my husband has been fully engaged in public service to the citizens and taxpayers of this state and I have faithfully supported him in those efforts to the best of my ability. I have been and remain proud of his accomplishments and his service to this state. It is for that reason that I deeply regret the recent actions of my husband Mark, and their potential damage to our children. I believe wholeheartedly in the sanctity, dignity and importance of the institution of marriage. I believe that has been consistently reflected in my actions. When I found out about my husband's infidelity I worked immediately to first seek reconciliation through forgiveness, and then to work diligently to repair our marriage. We reached a point where I felt it was important to look my sons in the eyes and maintain my dignity, self-respect, and my basic sense of right and wrong. I therefore asked my husband to leave two weeks ago. This trial separation was agreed to with the goal of ultimately strengthening our marriage. During this short separation it was agreed that Mark would not contact us. I I believe enduring love is primarily a commitment and an act of will, and for a marriage to be successful, that commitment must be reciprocal. I believe Mark has earned a chance to resurrect our marriage.

Oh give me a damn break. You don’t take off unannounced and leave your staff lying for you for days to fly to Argentina to break it off with your mistress while you are Govenor. You pick up a phone, tell her it’s over, get down on bended knee to your wife and re-commit to her and inform all necessary parties of your actions because it WILL leak out one way or another and best you be the one to admit it first.

He went down there for sex and probably to whine about how his wife doesn’t get him. I want nothing to do with that man politically or personally.

A very smart Japanese man once told me that.
Husband stronger you get more girls
Wife stronger you get more boys

That sounds on a par with the Drano and the wedding-ring-on-a-chain test.

My OB/GYN told me that Y sperm swim more slowly than X sperm. But the chances are still 50/50 on every conception.

My father in law was the toughest, strongest man you would ever care to meet. Bird colonel in the Air Force, stood no nonsense from anybody. His wife was a NJ farm girl, no pushover but definitely a traditional bride. All boys.

My dad is an easygoing guy, the sort of fellow everyone likes, not much of a disciplinarian ever (but beware the wrath of a patient man). My mom is a take charge gal, dad says, "If she'd been Allied Commanding General, World War II would have been over in six weeks." All girls.

I have a feeling that she is not through with him yet, these things take time and she will have her day. This marriage for what it is worth now, will only stay together for the sake of the children, nothing more. He can forget about romance with wifey from now on. Make him pay, honey, make him pay. She will never forget, and he will live a very miserable life from now on.

The affair may have been WHY he had to accept the Stimulus, blackmail by the government.

I therefore asked my husband to leave two weeks ago.

They live in the governor's mansion. Who asked whom to leave? Who put her in-charge of the house assigned to the governor? Sounds like Mrs. McGreevey to me. The whole business is disgusting. The DU must be busting a gut looking at all the old FR posts boasting about this two-faced conservative -- "Do as I say, not as I do" comes to mind. Who put these clowns in leadership of the Republican Party? It is just shameful. He needs to resign. The call for term limits isn't for Sanford, it is for all elected officials who have way overstayed their welcome.

Someone has been sitting on those emails since December. My guess is Sanford knew he was going to be exposed, confessed to his wife and she told him to break off. From the tone of the emails, these folks are pretty well off and that, plus the boys, was the determining factor to stay together.

We won’t be seeing them on the campaign trail...ever.

So- he had his second chance, and he went back to his mistress? In Argentina? Without telling his staff?

I say he’s toast!

You forgot the last part of that:

Both strong, you get twins or triplets.

“I still like Sanford. His press conference was forthright”

Now, if he would only show some real courage and resign. You don’t abandon a Governorship and disappear with some Argentine hotty for a week.

That’s all.

She's saying the politically correct thing.

OTOH, her husband is crazy out of his mind for the other woman. I'd cut him loose in a heart beat.
