Gibson: You keep saying that if you like what you have, you can keep it. Maybe that isn’t true.

Obama: There are several ways to set up a public option to keep people from dumping their insurance and moving to the public option. One is a pay-or-pay provision, if you’re a large employer and you’re not insuring your employees, you’ll have to kick in money because it’s not fair for taxpayers to pay for your employees.

Q. SS is already in trouble. If the government gets into healthcare, how is it going to be able to do that without taxing me more?

A. SS, Medicare/Medicaid will go broke soon if we don’t do anything because the cost of healthcase is rising faster than we can control it. We’re talking about reallocating dollars not already being spent wisely. Initially there will be a need for additional revenue, the best way to do that is capping itemized deductions for $250,000 over. Over time, your out of pocket costs will go down.

Define "large employer".

I get the distinct impression that this joker has spent his whole life whining, "It's not FAIRRRRRRRRRRR!"

When in hell did medical insurance become the responsibility of employers to begin with? Originally, it was offered as a benefit, and enticement, because group insurance is cheaper than individual plans. Ostammer speaks as though there is a law requiring it NOW.
