John Boehner recommends this handy guide to the healthcare informercial from The Freedom Project.
A Guide to the President's Health Care Infomercial

Obama's Thinking 'Evolves' on Health Care Requirements

Acknowledging that his thinking on the issue has "evolved," President Barack Obama says he could support a law mandating that individuals purchase health care coverage, with fines for those who do not, but he stressed that there must be some kind of waiver for those who are simply unable to afford it. (snip)

During the election campaign, Obama said he was opposed to a federal law mandating the purchase of health care coverage.

Q. SS is already in trouble. If the government gets into healthcare, how is it going to be able to do that without taxing me more?

A. SS, Medicare/Medicaid will go broke soon if we don’t do anything because the cost of healthcase is rising faster than we can control it. We’re talking about reallocating dollars not already being spent wisely. Initially there will be a need for additional revenue, the best way to do that is capping itemized deductions for $250,000 over. Over time, your out of pocket costs will go down.

if you’re a large employer and you’re not insuring your employees, you’ll have to kick in money because it’s not fair for taxpayers to pay for your employees.

Define "large employer".

I get the distinct impression that this joker has spent his whole life whining, "It's not FAIRRRRRRRRRRR!"

Gibson: You went after McCain for his plan of taxing healthcare benefits. Are you still opposed to that idea?

Obama: It would the wrong way to go to eliminate the current exclusion on those benefits. What they’re talking about in Congress is capping that exclusion. I think that’s not the best way to do it. If you eliminate that, employers will stop providing health insurance or you’ll get that money back in credits/wages and have to shop for insurance on your own and the money you’re getting back won’t cover the plan you want. The better way to fund this is the cap of itemized deductions. Congress is debating this now. We’re going to have to compromise.

"Plus, docs won’t want to spend too much money on old people when they will die and have an outcome predetermined."

"I mean how will they judge outcome? By money spent to acheive a result? Or by a convenient death?"

"If you kill your old patients quietly and quickly by denying care, calling in the hospitce as early as possible, have them agressive as possible in hastening death,,,is that a good outcome? I think O thinks so."

"ANd what is our life worth?"

Q. There are other nations who provide coverage for all of their citizens, better care for less than what we’re spending now. So could we explore making some tough decisions and not spending any new money on healthcare but using the money we’re spending now.

A. We spend 50% more than other countries without better outcomes. Not all are socialized medicine, but essentially all are a single-payer system. For us to completely change our system would be too disruptive in all aspects of care. Healthcare is 1/6 opf our economy. We can build on what works, fix what is broken and still save some money.

Q. Uninsured man who makes too much money under MA rules wants to know how is Obama going to make sure he is able to get insurance and not fall through the cracks.

A. Self-employed are large portion of uninsured because they aren’t part of a large pool. The market place that we want to set up will allow you to negotiate for a better price on your insurance. We can also provide some subsidies for those who still can’t afford it even with the market place and/or public option.

You’re welcome.

I need a saline wash to flush my eyes and a hot shower. I feel icky, nasty, filthy dirty.

“A. We want to prevent extensive/expensive treatments simply to prolong lives without really making the patient any better. In some cases, we’ll ask the patient to take the pain pills instead of getting the surgery. In those ways we’ll be able to save money for those cases (like the 105 year old mom who received a pacemaker at 95) who will benefit from the extensive treatments.”

Assuming your memory is correct, who the heck is “we”? IOW, I'm going to let Rahm Emanuel determine if I live or die? Like Hell!

Why doesn’t ABC just change their name to ‘Pravda’ and get it over with?
