In a stunning confession, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford admitted Wednesday to being "unfaithful" to his wife during a press conference meant to account for his mysterious week-long absence. "I've let down a lot of people. That's the bottom line," he said. "I've been unfaithful to my wife." Sanford, who just returned from Argentina, said he developed a "relationship with what started out as a dear, dear friend from Argentina."
He was not “cheating on his wife” because he was, as I understand it, separated from her. This removed 90% of the air from this story. And while I do not in any way condone anyone having an affair with someone who is married, I was speaking of the relativity of the importance of this story in which there may be 1 or 2 possible victims versus what is happening on the world stage where the potential for danger would involve MILLIONS of victims.
The priorities of the liberal media are screwed up beyond belief.
As to whether or not he “ditched” his security or didn’t is not relevant to this story. I believe they knew and were respecting his privacy. He and his wife were/are separated. He didn’t screw me, or anyone for that matter. He is at the end of his run as governor.
His values as an administrator and as a leader do not have any bearing on what happens between him and his family. Whether or not I approve is beside the point. My main concern has and will always be how he conducts the business of the State.
If he had raped and beaten someone, participated in murder, used drugs like Willy boy, then yes, I would be concerned. But this is a private matter between a husband and wife.
How about him using State funds to pay for his little trip? That ok too? Yes he is repaying them, because he got caught. Would he have done so had he not been caught?
And yes, she kicked him out two weeks ago according to her own statement - so does that make it ok in your eyes to commit adultery just because they aren't living under the same roof? His wife seemed to think they were working on their marriage, apparently his idea of working on the marriage was to have a hot weekend with the mistress.
I find it strange that anyone who complained about Clinton and his affairs would give Sanford a break on the same thing.
perhaps he should have thought about what a diversion from important issues his adultery might cause, as a public politician, prior to engaging in the behavior. but then, perhaps he should have thought about his 4 boys, and his wife before engaging in the behavior also. a politician who engages in behavior like this demonstrates judgment so faulty that he should not even be in office.
