I wish I knew. The cheating people never seem how far-reaching their actions are either. They lose the respect and trust of many.
That definitely would be my choice:
He may very well have actually been that person until a year ago when the affair started. I doubt he ever intended to cheat on his wife. I'm not defending his behavior for the past year, but I don't think he presented himself as a "family man" with the intent to deceive.
And MIA on Fathers’ Day. The man is mentally ill.

The conspiracy theory also has to include the Republican state senator who started asking questions on Monday and the Republican Lt. Governor who fed the fire.
I said the same thing last week re Ensign. For the wife to just turn around and deck him at the press conference.
But somehow I don't feel that way about Sanford. For starters, neither he nor her insulted everyone's intelligence by staging that humiliating dog & pony show of her standing by his side. And he asked the press to back off of her and the boys.
Call me a sucker, but I think that he is genuinely sorry -- and not just sorry that he got caught.

I understand, and agree with, what you said. I also am a married woman. But, the decision to commit adultery falls on one person. When one has four children, you do not put what you want on the list of what is important anymore.

I think that if Hunter had gotten more exposure he would have been picked. People that I spoke to had never heard of him and the press tried to keep it that way.

Could this be Obama clearing the deck of any possible challengers just like he did to originally get elected in Illinois?

Please explain to us exactly how the Obama Administration manipulated Sanford's lust to get him to wig out and skip town just before this week's critical votes. What, did they have the NSA pipe 'Don't cry for me, Argentina' into his office?

OK. Done defending him now. I’ve always maintained that adultery should be a disqualification from holding high office, because if you can’t handle “love, honor, and obey,” how the hell are you going to handle “preserve, protect, and defend?”
You had the world by the nuts, Mr. Sanford, and you threw it all away. I sure hope she was worth it. Thank you for your service to South Carolina, now serve out your term and please go away.
