When I’m wrong, I’m wrong. You can’t defend indefensible behavior and there’s no way for me to defend this. He did bring this upon himself. I don’t know what else to say, he let so many down.

I’m just speechless right now. But I don’t want to paint every male politician with a broad brush, not everyone is like that, but... I don’t know what to say. They kept this well under wraps, because I had no inkling of infidelity. Just shocking.
He’s never told anyone how to live their lives.
It all started when a GOP state senator(Knotts), who does not like Sanford, decided he would contact the press and tell the State (SC newspaper) that Sanford was missing and it was a terrible calamity. Step 2 is media interview the Dems to get their “reaction”. I think he should let a few people know what he is up to in order to avoid this type of scene. However all of this is designed to damage him, even though he did leave himself open to attack.
I don’t apologize for defending someone I respected from a lynch mob before we know what happened. Now we know. I can’t defend it.
His selfishness hurts the conservative cause deeply. I really wanted him to show his written letter of notice for his trip and a memo explaining how to get a hold of him. I thought he would, and thereby stick a finger in the eye of media.

So... he cheats on his wife, lies to his staff, physically leaves the State while having no contingency plan as to who’s in charge. Now asking for forgiveness.

Before you “crow” too much be aware that you stumbled into the truth at full speed with your eyes closed but this will probably embolden you for the next time you go charging off. Don’t expect your methods to be productive very often, the behavior on this thread was still shameful. Now you can beat your chest and dance on his carcass. I am saddened but people fall, the struggle goes on.
Well, he can’t run for President now. Only rodents can get away with infidelity as such. It’s now entirely on Palin with this. There’s nowhere left to go.

You know what, someone can have faith, defend marriage as being between a man and a woman and all that without being sinless. He’s screwed up and is coming clean. It’s a damn shame for his family but hopefully his marriage will survive and there is forgiveness. Are you a Christian or do you believe in condemning people outright without forgiveness because they dashed some people’s political hopes?
