6/23/2009 - ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin made a surprise visit to Sailors and personnel onboard the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) on Monday during the military joint-training exercise Northern Edge 2009.

The invitation came as a surprise for the governor, who jumped at the opportunity to visit U.S. service members and learn more about U.S. Navy operations.

"This is such an honor to be here," Palin said. "It's a once in a lifetime opportunity for my husband Todd and I to see an aircraft carrier in action, and see what its crew does to keep America safe."

During the visit, Palin toured the ship's facilities to include; flight deck takeoffs and landings, bridge operations, a tour of the hangar bay, and a meet and greet with Alaskan constituents.

"I'm enjoying this opportunity to meet the men and women of the ship," she said. "It's a chance to meet the people who have chosen to serve something greater and larger than themselves and a good time to say thank you."

I’m replying here 10 days later. Sara’s stunning news yesterday leads me to believe your post may be prophetic.

As a further update and FWIW, an Alaskan who claims knowledge on another forum said that her trip to visit the troops was the tipping point in her decision to resign now and not complete her term. This poster said she was besieged with pleas for her help and that she was "shaken" by the indifference of the Obama administration toward national security.

Just another little puzzle piece. Sarah alluded to her Kosovo trip in her speech yesterday. It was clearly important to her.

Thanks painter. That post has caused more people to contact me than any other post in my 10+ years here at FR.

Something is in the air. As Al said, her trip to Kosovo was a turning point for SP.

The US military sees the hand writing on the wall. Obama intends to geld the military and turn this nation into a second rate power. He and his whole administration believe the sun has set on America. That China is the future. Witness the destruction of the dollar and the rise of China as our banker. This isn't an accident. It is deliberate policy.

I have personal knowledge and experience in Central America, especially Costa Rica and Panama. China has been given a blank check by Obama to pursue their interests in that region. Just look at the massive investments the Chicoms are making there. And with our blessing. The tilt to the deposed President in Honduras is also no accident. That is part of the long range plan to reduce the Western Powers to impotence. His treatment of England and the statement of the President of Brazil that the white man caused the financial collapse are all part of a not too subtle message that the West is finished.

But the one institution in this country that has not been corrupted by the Left is the US military. And I believe they made it plan to SP that there is no time left for politics as usual. The old rule of finish your term and then go national wont work now. There just isn't time. The time to galvanize the American people must start now.

I believe ( but have no concrete evidence ) that Sarah Palin was told the truth of what is going on by the men who are on the inside and know the truth. And she made a decision that she will play her part to wake up the people for the struggle ahead.

I don't think she would have said.."Politically, if I die, I die"...unless she saw the ugly truth and made the decision to fight it to the death. And only put in the qualifier "politically" to soften the effect. But I think she meant it literally.

I've looked at the video of her announcement and noticed something that struck me......Todd Palin wasn't smiling. He knows the stakes.

I agree. This is very serious.

I saw on another thread about former Pres. Bush's appearance today, Independence Day, at a rodeo in Woodward, Oklahoma http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2009/07/04/us/AP-US-Bushs-Fourth.html?_r=1. His visibility on such an important day, the "thunderous applause" of the crowd, his statement "calling the U.S. the ''greatest nation on the face of the earth'' all lead me to wonder: what will he and Sarah Palin do together? I hope they are working together.

Makes sense to me. Strike while the iron is hot, as they used to say in the olden days.

Go, Sarah, Go!

She looks lovely. I’m guessing she’s about nine months along in that photo?

There's some great food for thought on this thread, both above and below this linked reply.

Whether your problem with Palin is simply lack of understanding, or something more malicious, reading this thread will help you find and show your true colors.
