At last, there's a place in America where tax cutting to promote growth and attract jobs is back in fashion. Who would have thought it would be Maine?
...
One question is how Democrats in Augusta were able to withstand the cries by interest groups of "tax cuts for the rich?" Mr. Baldacci's snappy reply: "Without employers, you don't have employees." He adds: "The best social services program is a job." Wise and timely advice for both Democrats and Republicans as the recession rolls on and budgets get squeezed.

Quote of the year!
One state “gets it” - hopefully others will follow.
MAINE??? MAINE???
Has he had a born again experience or what?
Baldacci has been one of the worst tax-and-spend politicians in the country. Maybe it’s a hopeful sign if even a jerk like him is finally getting religion.
Never mind, if there’s anything left in people’s pockets, Obama will suck it up.
I build houses for people who generally make over $250K. If they are taxed more, they build less.
Construction puts a lot of people to work. At least 200 different people will directly contribute to the construction of just one house. This doesn’t include all the busineses I buy materials from.
Mr. Baldacci’s snappy reply: “Without employers, you don’t have employees.”
Someone should inform the Commissar in Chief in the White House.
Now all we have to worry about is the segment of society who thinks being an employee is asking waaay too much.
Maine’s doing this? So how do we explain Snowe and Collins?
Surprised me too.
Don’t know. I’m not from Maine but hubby has relatives there who live in the northern part.
Bumping this thread for the morning crowd.
Yep. That’s the real way to “spread the wealth around.” :) I hope your business (and you) are doing well. I live in a new development that is about 50% complete and building has really slowed down, plus there are quite a few existing homes for sale too. Not good!
I don’t think there is a rational explanation for Snowe and Collins.
