this was mayor Daleys crack fascist police force...I am sure His Royal Highness 0bama agrees with the decision, after all he did not beat up ACORN workers.

beating that horse again, are you?

so every drunk, stupid, over-reactive cop is now a juice head.

how about the non-police officers who beat people up? should they be tested too?

This is Chicago. The cop is the cousin or best friend of somebody who knows somebody.

It’s been that way for a loooong time.

He’s been assigned anger management. Maybe he dopes too much caffine. They do that too.

Or maybe he’s a former doper. Houston’s police force no longer rejects applicants who have past drug CONVICTIONS from serving as officers.

"so every drunk, stupid, over-reactive cop is now a juice head."

No. Not everyone. But, I think it would be naive to believe that the abuse of steroids doesn't account for at least some of these cop-rage incidents.

Steroid abuse in the law enforcement community is the dirty little secret of, well, the law enforcement community. My guess is that if the LE were testing for steroids in their urine analysis screening, the results would be very troubling for police departments across the country.

What's even more surprising, is that there are many police departments that don't have random drug screening for their officers, let alone random drug screens for steroids - it's a bone of contention in the collective bargaining agreements.

As a non-cop if you hit a woman the cops will do everything to keep you from legally owning a firearm.

two sets of rules.

He is fortunate that the girl he beat was not the daughter, sister, girlfriend or wife of one of those “deranged, gun totin’ veterans” we keep hearing about in the MSM...

well, my department is the largest in the country. we have random drug testing. and yes, we test for steroids.

my fellow officers and i look down upon any cop who tests for steroids. to us, it is the same as dope or coke.

If his drunkness is impacting his performance (he’s on 2-year’s probation) perhaps he should be fired. Or is that a no-no since he has a substance abuse problem and is therefore handicapped?

Within the last week:

(1) Donte Stallworth, Cleveland Browns wide receiver, gets 30 days for DUI manslaughter.

(2) Chris Brown, a popular singer, gets zero jail time for felony assault against his girlfriend Rihanna.

(3) An intoxicated Chicago cop gets zero jail time for aggravated battery against a women half his size.

Substitute your name or my name in any of those crimes, and we'd be doing serious time.

"(2) Chris Brown, a popular singer, gets zero jail time for felony assault against his girlfriend Rihanna."

I agree with your other two examples, I think Brown's notoriety, however, actually worked against him.

I'm not an expert, but violence against women is one of my wife's pet causes. From what I understand, it's very common for Felony DV or assault to be plea bargained to a lesser misdemeanor if there isn't any lasting bodily harm. In this case, Rihanna's injuries appear to have been entirely superficial. Of course, that' not to diminish the outrageous behavior of Brown, in any way.

I think his plea deal was very harsh and restrictive, as plea deals go. He has some very limiting conditions of probation, and he's not getting the cushy celebrity community service like school visits or PSAs. He's getting 6 months of hard labor. I know my wife was pleasantly surprised by the outcome in the Brown case.
