Another window is opening on Richard Nixon's presidency with the release of hundreds of tape recordings and thousands of documents from that time.
The latest materials from the Nixon Presidential Library, to be released Tuesday, will offer a glimpse into fateful days of the Watergate scandal as well as the waning days of the U.S. war in Vietnam. Nixon's Cold War diplomacy, the U.S. cease-fire with Hanoi and the administration's reaction to the Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion are included in the release.
The tapes, to be put online, are from January and February 1973. That period covers the conviction of burglars whose break-in at Democratic headquarters precipitated the cover-up that eventually unraveled Nixon's presidency.
Altogether, about 154 hours of tape recordings from the Nixon White House are being revealed, as are 30,000 documents. More than 2,200 hours of taped conversations have come out since the first release in 1980.
To the extent they show the inner workings of the Nixon administration and U.S. foreign policy, the materials are of keen interest to historians. The latest batch shows a president fresh from his second inauguration, yet soon to see his presidency go into a long slide. Nixon resigned in August 1974 under threat of being forced out by Congress.

‘The library is administered by the National Archives and Records Administration.’
Obama controls that as well?
The tapes will pretty much tell the Nixon didn’t have a clue who was behind the break in, etc.
ROTFL ... the political equivalent of shooting debris from the torpedo tube.
The “community organizer” is not sitting still while his favorability numbers plunge!.....
Where are all those Clinton amdinistration documents and the papers in the Clinton Liebrary?
"Daniel Ellsberg (born April 7, 1931) is a former American military analyst employed by the RAND Corporation who precipitated a national political controversy in 1971 when he released the Pentagon Papers, a top-secret Pentagon study of government decision-making about the Vietnam War, to The New York Times and other newspapers."

"As a response to the leaks, the Nixon administration began a campaign against further leaks and against Ellsberg personally. Aides Egil Krogh and David Young under John Ehrlichman's supervision created the 'White House Plumbers,' which would later lead to the Watergate burglaries."

The RCP calls for the armed overthrow of the U.S. government...
From the website of the Revolutionary Communist Party (revcom.us or rwor.org) :
"Create Public Opinion, Seize Power: We are preparing minds and organizing forces for the time when there is a major crack in the system, whenever it comes and wherever it comes from: an opening that makes it possible to bring the future Revolutionary Army of the Proletariat (R.A.P.) into the field and wage a revolutionary armed struggle that actually has a chance of winning.
And we have said that building our party itself is the most important part of organizing forces for revolution. This is true now, and it is true looking forward to the creation of that future R.A.P. and the waging of that armed struggle.":
I thought that the National Archives released these things on some set time schedule after that person leaves office. If the time frame is 35 yrs., this may just be SOP.
They’ll never see the light of day.
Yeah, his ratings are dropping ever so slightly and he’s pulling out the heavy artillery.
He’s weak.
Nixon + Agnew = Obama + Biden
Our opposition party and media are similarly trying to smear our former Conservative Prime Minister Mulroney in order to remind the world just how bad Conservatives are, because they can’t fathom that Prime Minister Harper has been in office so long.
First, nobody but political wonks will read them. Second, the tapes will probably open some eyes to how Nixon was railroaded.
When will the tapes of Hussein being coached by Bill Ayers or the tapes of Hussein instructing the head of the Hawaii Dept of Vital Records to destroy all documents connected to him and his family be released?
Upon being fired, Cox stated, "whether ours shall be a government of laws and not of men is now for Congress and ultimately the American people to decide." Sounds like words for today with IG Walpin being illegally fired.
They'd better be careful what they wish for. The "RAP" has guns, indeed, but not pointed in the direction the commies might think.
At least the media has stopped doing Watergate anniversary shows.
Don't forget the Zero administration is full of Clintonistas (and other Chicago thugs) beginning with Rahmbo Emanuel.
