Very Well Written Article.
Actually, the conservative message generally works well for those accustomed to intact families. For those from single parent and dysfunctional backgrounds, the conservative message can be indecipherable.
This was not always the case. The post-Reagan lack of charismatic leaders with wide appeal. The previous administration became very unpopular. Part of this had to do with not coming across very well on television. They need to work on the front office and PR issues. Salesmanship.
If they reflect on how imagery, self-presentation, and sales work (and don't work) on television long enough, they will figure this out. Conservatives won the telegenic battles in the 1980s. If they reflect long enough on why Reagan worked on TV and why Bush-Cheney didn't, eventually they will figure this out. Not exactly rocket science.
I hate to tell you this but DeTocqueville was much more succint. Still, thank you for sharing.
all those thoughts for a computer repair trip?
Discretion is the better part of valor.
This guy is an idiot, and a wuss to boot. I would never delete Mr MC's icons from his computer.
Conservatism is in trouble because there aren't enough intelligent people consistently putting forth conservative ideas in an intelligent manner. This ninny doesn't help.
Good thing it was published while Rush is on vacation.
My computer repair folks have Christian music playing 24/7 and sell conservative books in their lobby. I could have Rush Limbaugh playing wide open on an Ipod and they wouldn’t flinch.
It is not impossible to find someone besides Mammoud to work on you electronics. ;D! Good luck.

Here are two views of my car that I drove for a year and a half encompassing the 2004 election:
I also have a bumpersticker in reserve that has a big arrow and says "This car was vandalized by a liberal!" but I haven't had to use it. Perhaps that is due to the NRA stickers on both side windows and the bumper.
I know guys at work, when they introduce me to people, they will sometimes say "He's one of us..."
In the weeks leading up to the election, a woman at work was looking a the fake name of one of our test studies in our system named "Sarah Alaska", and began to rail to the small group of IT personnel working an issue about how happy she would be when the election was over and we wouldn't have to hear about her anymore.
I never engage in political discussion at work unless I am specifically asked, but in this case, I looked at her and said "Personally, I would love it if we had to hear her name every single day."
She looked at me, truly aghast, her mouth agape, which opened and closed a few times like a fish out of water, then she she stuttered "You...you...You're one...one of THEM!"
I said with all the confrontational mustard I could apply, "Yep. I sure am. You got a problem with that?"
It was funny. She had no idea I was a conservative, and acted like she had never seen one "in the wild" before!
Ahhhhh.... I think this guy needs a new life-mate.
That’s what they call “thought control.”
You feel guilty about your beliefs and what you think.
Their strategy is working.
The “obuma” booth at the local fleamarket is mostly vacant and all the obuma icons are gathering dust. Meanwhile, the farmer’s booth across the way is doing brisk business. So it seems that cabbage heads are selling better than obuma heads these days. Oh, well...
No, NOW he needs to delete the Rush Icons as not to embarrass conservatives with such detachments. (To me, it’s like the writer is one of those horrible drivers I’ve often encountered on the road who, ironically, also happen to STILL sport Bush/Cheney bumper stickers! ARRGHH!!)
Anyway....
I don’t buy that he’s a Rush 24/7 member. He would otherwise know better than to share such thoughts on American Thinker as some great epiphany. Casual listeners of Rush (as I) should even already know that these ideas have been covered FREQUENTLY and for years now - and loudly since the election.
His insecurities probably have more to do with not getting out of his house more - and interacting with people. If he doesn’t get out of the house more, he needs to listen to Rush more than once a quarter...I mean reallllly listen.
(BTW, how does he know the person he dealt with was really of ‘’African’’ origin and not ‘’West Indies’’? How does he know that person is ‘’American’’ and not illegal from say, Canada? Why is B-HO defaulted to black and not white? Why do people - especially liberals - fixate on labels? Why must many poor drivers maintain Bush/Cheney bumper stickers on their cars?)
My mom always used to say, "Don't let your friends choose you. YOU choose them."
[it's funny how moms are always right :-)]
When I was young I used to worry about what people thought. Now that I’m a mature old fart, I don’t give a shit.

It is ok to be a racist. It is a strength to recognize there are racial differences and to learn to know and understand those differences.
The fact Obama is President is precisely because he is not white. The people who voted for him are mostly racists who practice negative racism. They proudly assume the mantle of nonracist while in the act of voting for a black man because he is black.
By the same token it is ok to be very critical of a black populations that shuns education and personal growth while retreating to urban enclaves where they are unassailable in their racist war on the mainstream.
The concept of racism has been raised as a political cudgel with which to flog the opposition.
