A possible ban on teachers in England from being members of the British National Party is under consideration, a government spokesman has confirmed.

A spokesman for the Department for Children, Schools and Families says ministers are investigating a ban.

But the profession's watchdog, the General Teaching Council, has said membership of a legal party cannot be seen as "unprofessional conduct".

A BNP spokesman said moves for such a ban were "naked intimidation".

There have been calls from teachers' unions for a ban on teachers belonging to the BNP.

The UK Labour Party and Lib Dems police state. The Tories should speak up. East Germany was less of a police state and the crime and corruption was less than the UK.

These are all they types of behaviors that I was told as a child only happened in the Soviet Union. I thought the US and the UK were nations of freedom. How silly of me.

"People have different opinions, but they can leave their politics outside of the classroom."

It was unfair that such proposed restrictions would not apply to extreme left-wing teachers, the party's spokesman argued.

I have no truck with the BNP, but it seems to me if the Communists and Socialists are free to spew in their public schools, the BNP people should be able to hold their beliefs without government censure. The UK is creating a thought crime and punishing people for it. The British are watching their freedom evaporate at an accelerated pace.

Exactly. I’m not a fan of the BNP, but they are no worse than many of the ‘mainstream’ left parties.

Just when you think the Brits are only in a slow steady decline they suddenly jump off of a cliff.

Just wow! Can't teach the children because of an incorrect political affiliation.

Sounds familiar. Somthing from the late 30's, early `40's

Yea...

I think the EU generally want to impose a level of thought control on people. Criticism of Islam, immigration, or multi-culturalism is beyond the terms of acceptable discourse.

When I read outrageous things like this, I console myself with the thought that for every action there is an equal and opposition reaction (with apologies to Sir Isaac). The pendulum swings both ways.

The BNP, for the record are National Socialists. They are hard left xenophobes.

Almost all of their votes are disaffected Labour voters.

That said, no government should be able to prevent someone from holding a job because of their politics. I can only think of a few very specific exceptions to that.

The US an UK were nations of freedom, until we the people let our freedom be eroded bit by little bit. If you think the government, any government is going to give back the freedom that they take, well delusions abound. In the name of fairness, political correctness or just plain stupidity we have all allowed our freedom to be diminished. We, the people, have to take our Freedom back. If our Congressmen, Senators will not "fight" for our Freedom, then they do not need to be in Washington.

Haha, that’s true. I hope the pendulum starts to swing back sooner rather than later.

The BNP stands up for England. If only we had a party like it here in the US. Instead we’ve got globalist party#1 and globalist party#2. The push is on to make all of the West obsolete and it’s citizen too.
