Listen folks, this is a setup by another frakking GOP state senator who obviously doesn’t like Sanford and purposefully planted this story. This whole thing is totally bogus misleading story designed to make Sanford look bad. His office knows wher he is, his wife is not concerned, and he often takes a few days after the session is over to go chill out somewhere.
from Politico (which dissolves into a smear job by the end of the article as per Politico’s self-serving wont):

state Sen. Jake Knotts, a veteran Republican who has clashed repeatedly with Sanford.

It was Knotts who provided the only on-record confirmation of Sanford’s absence to The State newspaper, prompting nationwide buzz about the unlikely story of the disappearing governor.

Knotts demanded in an interview Monday with The State to “know immediately who is running the executive branch in the governor’s absence.”

“As the head of our state, in the unfortunate event of a state of emergency or homeland security situation, Governor Sanford should be available at all times to the chief of [the state police force],” Knotts said.

In case you want to know who Knotts is, he’s another GOP turncoat who voted against the immigration law (requiring employers to verify).

Is it true that she said she didn’t know where her husband is? Or is that from the press?

Well, there go any Presidential aspirations. His wife doesn’t know where he is on Father’s Day, and she’s not concerned? Gimme a break.
I can't think of a good reason for having to leave your wife and kids on Father's Day without them even knowing where you are. The explanation that he had to write without the kids around just don't cut it. If he's not doing some secret squirrel stuff for the government no way can he run for higher office. What are my choices for the #2 in my tagline???

His wife says she's not worried, so whatever it is she's got his back, end of story.

I agree with you about the tantrum.

Well, they were able to kill quite a bit of yellow bellied mercenaries from up North. About a 2 for 1 kill rate if I recall. Of course, SC still has one of the highest miliary participation rates in the country. How does your beloved North compare again?

Does anyone have a graphic of the guy from Office Space with the “Jump to Conclusions Mat.” Seems appropriate here.

Hey, the media reported Sarah Palin has been brought up on ethics charges! Looks like she’s out, too. Funny, Lindsey Graham has no hit pieces against him. Maybe he should be the nominee.

Aren't his children young? Teens would maybe be OK in understanding “needing” to not spend Father's Day with them, but definitely NOT younger children. Even children of broken/discordant families are with their father on Father's Day.

I think she knows, but according to this article (SC governor's whereabouts unknown, even to wife (^)), she says she doesn't.

FTA:

"He was writing something and wanted some space to get away from the kids," Jenny Sanford told The Associated Press while vacationing with the couple's four sons at their Sullivans Island beach house. She said she didn't know where he was, but wasn't concerned.

Either way, it isn't being handled well, because at the end of the article, his opponents on both sides of the aisle vocally criticize him and make a point about his absence being unacceptable in terms of the National Guard, etc.

Maybe I’m off base here, but I would think that THAT would be standing on prinicple.

The way I look at it, if the Cruise company management gives the Captain a port he disapproves of, the captain shouldn't get in a lifeboat, and abandon the passengers and the crew.

“but it is ridiculous that his location and situation was unknown. “

It’s NOT unknown to those close to him, just the press.

Much Ado About NOTHING.

I wondered for a long time why Rush Limbaugh called it the 'drive-by' media and not 'liberal' media or 'lamestream' or whatever.

Now we know. This is a complete and utter biased drive-by article with no substance over a Gov who wants a few days of privacy.

If it isn’t being handled well, it’s probably because he’s done it many times before without an issue ever arising. He’s just one Governor from 50 states. And his state isn’t NY, Texas or California so usually daily lives fly under the radar.

Cut to the chase. This gives all appearances of his political enemies on both aisles anticipating a run for the W.H. from Sanford concocting a publicity scheme to take advantage of a known absence. Blown out of proportion by everyone.

It’s a good experience for him though. If he’s really serious about a run, they’ll take things even more trivial and blow them up so he’s going to have to alter his lifestyle somewhat with an eye to that in mind.

Negative, chief. Maybe in your experience, but my family rarely knows what STATE I'm in, much less where I am on Father's Day. And on my birthdays, even I don't know where I'm going to be, most of the time, except it will involve fishing.

Some of us live like that. Without moment-to-moment contact with families, sometimes without weekly or even monthly contact with families.

Okay. Do you know any father who wasn't with his children on Father's Day?
