Listen folks, this is a setup by another frakking GOP state senator who obviously doesn’t like Sanford and purposefully planted this story. This whole thing is totally bogus misleading story designed to make Sanford look bad. His office knows wher he is, his wife is not concerned, and he often takes a few days after the session is over to go chill out somewhere.
from Politico (which dissolves into a smear job by the end of the article as per Politico’s self-serving wont):

state Sen. Jake Knotts, a veteran Republican who has clashed repeatedly with Sanford.

It was Knotts who provided the only on-record confirmation of Sanford’s absence to The State newspaper, prompting nationwide buzz about the unlikely story of the disappearing governor.

Knotts demanded in an interview Monday with The State to “know immediately who is running the executive branch in the governor’s absence.”

“As the head of our state, in the unfortunate event of a state of emergency or homeland security situation, Governor Sanford should be available at all times to the chief of [the state police force],” Knotts said.

In case you want to know who Knotts is, he’s another GOP turncoat who voted against the immigration law (requiring employers to verify).

Thank you... the most sensible, believable post I’ve seen on this.

I wondered for a long time why Rush Limbaugh called it the 'drive-by' media and not 'liberal' media or 'lamestream' or whatever.

Now we know. This is a complete and utter biased drive-by article with no substance over a Gov who wants a few days of privacy.

Thanks. The posters here don’t want to know the truth, they rather enjoy bashing our governor. I think FReepers have been taken over by DU pods.

Any Governor's office that runs 24/7 would be scary indeed.
