um, who cares?
Mousavi is a would be tyrant and if he is successful in scrapping the elections and seizing power very few on this board will be able to say they saw it coming when his policies are everybit as brutal. I know criminals when I see them; I picked up on Obama very early in his primary campaign and I’ve already picked up on Mousavi
You know the Sandinistas said that very thing.
This is what GOP should do:
1: Call on press conference on Monday (attended by GOP leadership and all other major GOP players who are able to be there)
2: State that GOP has sent a message to Iranian opposition that America stands by them (then apologize on behalf of clueless community activist and state the he does not speak for America)
3: State clearly that US will hunt down all who are responsible for the massacre (ie Basij, Hezbollah members). Even if the current White House is sympathetic to the mullahs, there will in a few years be pro-freedom leadership again in the US so Iranian people will have a friend in the US (and next president will deal those responsible for the murders, regardless where they hide)
4. Publish a specific outreach to iranian people (in effect, get rid of the mullahs and terrorism and join free world, and US will be your friend and we can all live and prosper)
So, ignore and embarrass Obama and speak directly to Iranian people. Remember to apologize on behalf of Obama and say he doe snot speak for America. If Nancy Pelosi were able to go to Syria to speak BS with Syrian dictator this is the least what GOP should do.
Obama and State Media would go absolute ballistic..
Yes Musavi, 0bama misleads on a lot of things.
Obama: "We won. Get over it".
There are things that can be said that are supportive of those who seek freedom yet are NOT interfering.
Is “tear down this wall” interfering ?
CIA should be active in carrying out military objectives.

“America will encourage the advancement of democracy and economic openness in both nations, because these are the best foundations for domestic stability and international order. We will strongly resist aggression from other great powerseven as we welcome their peaceful pursuit of prosperity, trade, and cultural advancement.”
ts not military support that they need right now. They need to know that the free world is behind them and Obama is too stubborn(or complicit) to stand behind them because it would prove that the Bush Doctrine is working!
Which it is!!
Uh oh...DU must be in a tailspin.
Obama the (mis)leader of the world...
Ping.
What would Reagan have done?
For that matter, what would Bush have done?
Either one of them would have at least spoken the truth.
OZero asked himself, “what would Carter do”... and then he did worse. Much, much worse.
While I tend to agree with your critisism of Obama I have ask you; are these really peaceful protest? The images I’ve been seeing are rock throwing and bus burning (hardly what I consdier peaceful). Also, Mousavi isn’t the type of person I personally would lay my life down for. Just in case there are any doubts I do not accept the so called “Islamic Republic of Iran” but I see this “revolution” as little more than an attempted power grab by Mousavi and Rafsanjani
can’t speak for the poster but from my perspective I would take little pride in backing the would be tyrant Mousavi
A lesson from the Mid-East:
The ENEMY of MY ENEMY is MY FRIEND!
Those who brought down the Soviet Empire were not all civil libertarians, were they? Of course not!
This election WAS bogus, and the people of Iran have had enough.
The Mullahs decide who can actually be on the ballot, but that wasn't even good enough, they have to stuff the ballot box like some Communist country!
This is bigger than just one election, this is a movement that even Mousavi can not control.
Yes, in the short run, it might well be crushed, but this is important, and Obama is on the wrong side of history.
You nailed it. Obama is on the same side as the vote-riggers and the snipers taking out protesters. On the same side.
“Do we really want to interfere in the elections in another country? “
No, but this is not about elections. First, it was sham election (mullahs pre-selected couple of pro-mullah candidates). Second, thugs working for mullahs are murdering innocent people on street: This is something that we should get involved in.
