President Obama's first response to the protests in Iran was silence, followed by a cautious, almost neutral stance designed to avoid "meddling" in Iranian affairs. I am reminded of Ronald Reagan's initially neutral response to the crisis following the Philippine election of 1986, and of George H.W. Bush's initially neutral response to the attempted coup against Mikhail Gorbachev in 1991. Both Reagan and Bush were able to abandon their mistaken neutrality in time to make a difference. It's not too late for Obama to do the same.

“Once they know that Obama doesnt care, its almost assured to get more violent.”
He doesn't understand that he's green lighting the Mullahs to do whatever they wish to those demonstrators, or worse yet, perhaps he DOES understand.

How about “we don’t want to appear like we are meddling”... How asinine is that. Freedom and Libery cry out for America... America responds sorry can’t be bothered right now.
I am starting to not like America anymore... Is that strange?

Will Obama still talk to Iran with no preconditions, even after the mullahs slaughter the dissidents?
Will it be as though the protests and the ensuing crackdown never happened?
“Come on guys! Cut it out, will ya? I mean it! Really! Don’t make me angry or, or uhhhhh....or...uh...”

I agree with you. While I’m not convinced Mousavi is the answer that will bring freedom to the Iranians, clearly any move that would even partially neutralize the mullahs would be a good move.
And while more freedom is not a certainty should Mousavi become a power broker its obvious the status quo is the most untenable position for both Iranians who seek their freedom and for America.
Obama needs to pull his head out for the couple minutes it would take to deliver a forceful address to those democracy oriented freedom seekers in Iran.

He doesn't understand that he's green lighting the Mullahs to do whatever they wish to those demonstrators, or worse yet, perhaps he DOES understand. Because he would deal with US citizens protesting against him the same way - with disdain and force.

...So, it's a different world. To ensure US sovereignty, we have to build nations like us. So, we have a constitution that we can bend when it suits the purpose, and say it's the law when it suits the purpose? Hypocrisy and bullsh!t from the left and the right!!!

Despite Obummer’s milque toast comments, I fear that the reason the he does not take a stand against the tyranny is that one day, soon, he may be confronted with those words when he uses similar tyranny against protesters here.

Obama was a pretty good basketball player in H.S. He should be able to handle this Iran and N. Korea thing no sweat. Just keep dribbling...
The "Shot Clock" is about to run out on the basketball playing 'Community Organizer'.

I thought the very same, chops. The subjects and manner of his “jokes,” followed by an evil and chilling, broad insta-smile made my stomach roll and creeped me out. For what it's worth I believe the audience there felt the same. I think that it was a very enlightening moment for his would-be bunglicks. They for possibly the first time saw a person that they didn't like so well. He quite revealed himself in all his naked, self-centered and ugly evilness. He showed himself as a malicious-intentioned “That Guy.” And I for one am glad for it.

I don’t think any candidate will. This isn’t really about a candidate anymore. Its about all kinds of freedom. A fake election pushed them over the top.
