HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Colby Curtin got her final wish.
The 10-year-old girl desperately wanted to see the new Disney-Pixar movie, "Up." But the cancer-stricken girl was too sick to go to a theater.
On June 10, an employee of Pixar Animation Studios, which is based in the San Francisco Bay city of Emeryville, flew with a DVD copy to Colby's home. By then, the girl had only hours to live, The Orange County Register reported Friday.
While waiting for the movie to arrive, Colby's mother, Lisa, said she asked her daughter: "Do you think you can hang on?"
"I'm ready (to die), but I'm going to wait for the movie," she said her daughter replied.
Colby died about seven hours later. A vigil was scheduled Friday.

Very sweet story. Makes me think even better of Pixar.
I had blogged on it earlier, here.

That was a nice thing for them to do.
I hope they didn’t make her watch 20 minutes of commercials and coming attractions before the movie started.

God Bless that Pixar employee! I wish Colby had actually been able to see the movie instead of having it described to her.
Thx for posting.

“Up” is the animated tale of a grumpy old man who, after his wife’s death, tries to fulfill their joint dream of visiting South America by tying thousands of balloons to his house and floating away.

There are just no words for the act of bravery of this little girl and the act of kindness shown to help her achieve her wish.

God please bless this child. Tears in my eyes.... Also, kudos to Pixar and the person that brought the movie for her to see. That had to be a difficult assignment.

I saw this movie with my 10-year old last week. She loved it.
I’m going to hug her extra hard tonite. This sad, sad story really makes me count my blessings.
Prayers for little Colby and her family.

Of all the difficult things a person must face in this life, the death of ones child MUST be the most difficult.
Prayers up for this little angel and for her family.

At about 12:30 p.m. the Pixar employee came to the Curtins home with the DVD.
He had a bag of stuffed animals of characters in the movie and a movie poster. He shared some quirky background details of the movie and the group settled in to watch Up.
Colby couldn't see the screen because the pain kept her eyes closed so her mother gave her a play-by-play of the film.
At the end of the film, the mother asked if her daughter enjoyed the movie and Colby nodded yes, Lisa Curtin said.
The employee left after the movie, taking the DVD with him, Lynch said.
He couldnt have been nicer, said Lynch who watched the movie with the family. His eyes were just welled up.
After the movie, Colbys dad, Michael Curtin, who is divorced from Lisa Curtin, came to visit.
Colby died with her mom and dad nearby at 9:20 p.m.
Among the Up memorabilia the employee gave Colby was an adventure book a scrap book the main characters wife used to chronicle her journeys.
Ill have to fill those adventures in for her, Lisa Curtin said.

May she be in God’s arms now.

I am sure she is as sure as I am about anything. Didn't our Saviour say “Allow the little children to come to me, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven?” She's going to have adventures FOREVER, in His company — as will all who have faith that Jesus is Saviour and Lord and died for their sins.

Well done, Pixar. Also, thanks for not crowing about how virtuous you are for doing this.
