NEW YORK CBS isn't commenting on reports that veteran newsman Walter Cronkite is gravely ill. The 92-year-old former anchor of "The CBS Evening News," who has been ailing for some time, has reportedly taken a turn for the worse, according to TVNewser and other online sites. CBS News spokesman Kevin Tedesco had no comment on Friday. Bob Schieffer said, "All of us are praying for the best, and our thoughts are with Walter's family." The host of CBS' "Face the Nation" and a longtime Cronkite colleague, Schieffer noted that he had no current news on Cronkite's condition. The face of CBS News for more than two decades, Cronkite was named "the most trusted man in America" in a 1972 "trust index" survey, and he ended each broadcast with the reassuring signoff, "And that's the way it is." He left the "Evening News" anchor desk in 1981, but after that kept a busy schedule both in journalistic and other activities. For 24 years, he served as onsite host for New Year's Day telecasts by the Vienna Philharmonic until ill health forced him to bow out earlier this year.

Well, Mr. Cronkite had some really good ratings, and he presided over some remarkable moments in American history.
It turned out that he and I didn’t have much in common, but I do hope he is resting easily as this drama plays out.
That’s the way it is.
Prayers for his family, but Walter was never the same after he intentionally misled nation re: the Tet Offensive.
misled nation = misled the nation
I really thought that Cronkcase had passed on some time ago.
I will never forget how that old bastard stabbed us in the back during the Vietnam War. After our troops decisively annhilated the Viet Cong after their unsuccessful Tet Offensive in 1968, Conkrite travelled to Vietnam and said the war was lost helping to turn American opininon against the war.
That’s like a reporter telling the American people WWII was lost after American troops successfully turned back the final German offensive during the Battle of the Bulge.
We all die sometime.
I hope he is resting comfortably and his family finds peace.

Interesting. I thought when obama was selected all their prayers were ANSWERED
Peace to him and his family.
I thought he took “a turn for the worse” 30 years ago, when he almost single-handedly gave the communist North Vietnamese victory over the U.S. forces with his anti-American reporting.
His disgraceful reporting during the Tet Offensive, a hard-fought victory by our brave troops which he reported as a defeat, should have marked him as the traitor he was.
He lived much longer than the better men he disparaged.
And I will never forgive, it's personal for me.
He definitely blew it big time, but do you think he intentionally misled, or that he was just a clueless lefty who reported it the way he wanted it to be? Not a huge difference, but I've never thought he even understood what was what in Vietnam.

Bill Clinton loves the guy.
If Cronkite does die on or before Wednesday, who wants to bet that it’s not announced till after Nightline
“I really thought that Cronkcase had passed on some time ago.”
Me, too. I thought he was preserved next to Lenin in Red Square.
I have no empathy what so ever for this cynical old traitor. He is a proclaimed Atheist and made the comment on one of his Crockumentaries that Evolution is a FACT, proven unequivocally by the “laws of Science”.
I certainly hope he finds his soul and confesses his sins before he goes, but the man's entire life is a contradiction of that possibility. May God have mercy on his soul. “And that's the way it is!” (Or better said, the way Cronkite wanted you to see it.)

I believe he misled. All he needed (and probably received) were copies of SITREPs from the locations involved, that indicated the enemy had been defeated. Instead, he chose to color it like a defeat for the U.S.
He along with Edward R. Murrow helped turned the MSM into the mouthpiece of the Democrat Party and the liberal/left agenda.
