There is no regulation, rule or law that requires this or any other deference with regard to our so-called public servants. The fact she refers to it as a "title" shows arrogance. It's not a titled job. It's an elected "position".

What, did she go to school for her "title"? Pass a rigorous course or sit for a hefty exam? Study for years?
She is an elected public SERVANT. Period.
Like a lot of people these days, she is probably just not used to politeness and assumed him calling her ma'am was sarcasm.
Talking to a Brigadier General like he was a two year old was ridiculous.
