The economy was actually doing fine until January 20, 2009. Obama didn't inherit anything, he created this mess with TARP II and the stimulus bill. TARP I under President Bush was designed simply to have the government buy back all toxic assets held by all the banks. Obama went 10 steps beyond that and took over large swathes of this nation's economy.
