Posey: Eligibility Document Plan Not Personal
World Net Daily ^ | June 17, 2009 | Andrea Shea King

A Florida congressman who has proposed requiring candidates for the presidency to document their eligibility for the office under the "natural born citizen" requirements of the U.S. Constitution says it's not intended to affect President Obama's current term, but he wants to avoid similar issues in the future.

"The last election is over," Rep. Bill Posey, R-Fla., said on a radio interview. "I don't think that outcome is going to change. Personally, I think it's futile to go there, but looking toward the future I think it would be reckless if we do not do everything we could to eliminate problems like that in the future. And that's why I filed the bill."

No kidding, a serious vulnerability has been exposed and it needs to be fixed.

I just hope that it’s in place for the 2012 election.

Both parties are agreeable to running anyone unvetted. The Reps are agreeable as they have uttered absolutely no objections from the start. The Repubs might come up with a dark horse candidate with even greater foreign proclivities. When the formerly unbelievable is occurring now in uncharted, unprecedented times, anything apparently goes.

Sum, I think a Dem Congress is not going to do anything with the bill.

Waiting to be surprised.

I would have to disagree—it would require immediate remedy, as Obama would be guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors.

Correct, since Mccain did not meet the natural born clause, they were between a rock and a hard place, and as usual they chose party over country.

It shouldn’t affect President Obama’s eligibility in 2012 either, unless the objective is to start a bloody revolution that enemies of the Constitution will win. Obama is water under the bridge.

This proposal is a step in the right direction, but it’s going to take a lot more than legislation “requiring them to document” eligibility. The term “natural born citizen” isn’t actually defined anywhere, much less is there any law spelling out what would constitute adequate documentation. And any legislation that would render unacceptable the sort of proof Obama provided — certification from the government of the state where he says he was born — opens a whole can of worms re state sovereignty.

This strikes me as one of those “be careful what you ask for” situations. If it’s made easy for the federal government to disqualify Presidential candidates by rejecting the records and representations of state governments re proof of birthplace (or date of birth, since age is a requirement too), the power of the states will have just dropped another big step down the ladder to oblivion.

Here is a joke. GOP fields a dark horse candidate name Samuel Adams. Reporters arrived to find a Chinese American candidate. How did you get a name like Samuel Adams, asked one reporter. The candidate explain that when he arrived in the US as an immigrant, the immigration officer asked the man in front of him his name. The man said Samuel Adams. The officer next asked the Chinese man the same question. The Chinese man responded Sam Ting.

This issue should have been addressed while John McCain was proving his eligibility. Shame on all those people in office for not doing just that!

Change those “agree-ables” to “culpables” and I agree.

I was not fond of McCain either, and only voted for him because of Palin, BUT he most certainly did meet the natural born requirements. In fact he went through a hearing to determine it.

No he had leglistaion passed that said he was!! But he wasn't, he was born in Panama on rented land, not in the United States. There was questions about Goldwater because he was born in Arizona before it was a state.

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D., Mo.) has introduced legislation that would declare that any child born abroad to citizens serving in the United States military to be natural born citizens for the purposes of the constitution. It is a admirable bipartisan effort to resolve any questions about McCain’s eligibility under Article II. However, it is not the first time such legislation has been introduced and it is not clear if it would be sufficient.

...Personally, I think it's futile to go there...

I think it is absolutely imperative to go there. obama is taking this Country apart, transforming it into an indebted socialist nightmare of big government in nearly every facet of our lives.

I want to know, unambiguously and immediately, if the little fascist is in fact legally President or not. If not, I demand every single action he has taken be suspended pending review by a legal President. I want his VP out too - the entire election ticket is invalid. I demand he be prosecuted, and since he'd be obviously guilty of fraud on an almost unimaginable scale, convicted of several felonies and sentenced to life without parole.

I have resolved to save one vacation day a year until his term ends or he is impeached and imprisoned. On the day he is defeated by Sarah Palin in a landslide in 2012, or sometime before that when his real birth certificate surfaces and he is toast... I'm taking that day off and throwing the biggest party I've ever thrown.

I have to wonder if couples serving our country overseas or anywhere out of the country, are aware of that.

What about the clause that if one parent is a natural born citizen then the child is, which is what I keep hearing regarding zero.

Actually the constitution says it would be ok if the individual were born in the country and his parent that was a citizen was a male. It is beyond contesting however. The people keeping the birth stuff alive claim he was not born in the country.

Well, it wouldn't have been pointless to go there had anyone at all in Washington or in the media listened to the birthers when they brought up the issue instead of dismissing it without consideration.

Now, all of a sudden, it's reckless not to address the issue for the future? Well Pardon me if I say, "SO WHAT!" you filed a bill. The damage is already done.

It's reckless to ignore the eligibility questions surrounding Obama, the current POTUS. Look at the damage that he's doing to the country ... to our constitution ... to our way of life ... to private business ... to healthcare ... there's your RECKLESSNESS.

Now look where we are. /rant

These are the words of an utterly useless politician (one without the stones to tackle the issue for the concerns that 50% of Americans have about this particular president). He's given up before he's even started.

I don't know if this has been posted. I received this email tonight.

WHAT IS THE ANSWER?

We’ve all seen the emails about Obama’s citizenship
This is a new twist we hadn’t known.. Interesting.
More questions, and this time some good questions.
While I've little interest in getting in the middle of the Obama birth issue, Paul Hollrah over at FSM did so yesterday and believes the issue can be resolved by Obama answering one simple question: What passport did he use when he was shuttling between
New York, Jakarta, and Karachi?

So how did a young man who arrived in New York in early June 1981, without the price of a hotel room in his pocket, suddenly come up with the price of a round-the-world trip just a month later? And once he was on a plane, shuttling between New York , Jakarta , and Karachi , what passport was he offering when he passed through Customs and Immigration? The American people not only deserve to have answers to these questions, they must have answers.

It makes the debate over Obama’s citizenship a rather short and simple one.

Q: Did he travel to Pakistan in 1981, at age 20?
A: Yes, by his own admission.
Q: What passport did he travel under?
A: There are only three possibilities. 1) He traveled with a U.S. Passport,
2) He traveled with a British passport,
Or 3) He traveled with an Indonesia passport.
Q: Is it possible that Obama traveled with a U.S. Passport in 1981?
A: No. It is not possible. Pakistan was on the U..S. State Department's “no travel” list in 1981.

Conclusion: When Obama went to Pakistan in 1981 he was traveling either with a British passport or an Indonesian passport.

If he was traveling with a British passport that would provide proof that he was born in Kenya on August 4, 1961,
Not in Hawaii as he claims. And if he was traveling with an Indonesian passport that would tend to prove that he relinquished whatever previous citizenship he held, British or American, prior to being adopted by his Indonesian step-father in 1967.

Whatever the truth of the matter, the American people need to know how he managed to become a “natural born” American citizen between 1981 and 2008.. Given the destructive nature of his plans for America, as illustrated by his speech before Congress and the disastrous spending plan he has presented to Congress, the sooner we learn the truth of all this, the better.

Count me in as one of those inquiring minds who'd at least like to know the answers to these easily answered (by Obama) questions.
