Well, the DNA is easy enough to find out, but he does look like the pic.

Excerpt:

Barnes said his mother’s suggestion about his family tree led him to start investigating his past. From his earliest recollections, Barnes said, he was different from the rest of his family.

“I knew I didn’t belong to him,” Barnes said about the man who raised him. “And I was just trying to figure it out.”

Barnes spent hours in the local library, five days a week, trying to trace his past.

“I want to know who my real parents are, and I want to know what happened back in 1955,” he told the News. “I want to know who was involved in the kidnapping, and what was their motivation.

“Just answers to the questions I’ve had my whole life.”

I can’t imagine what this man went through.

I’d like to know the answers to who did this and why.

They need to be PUNISHED.

Heartwarming story aside....

Why in the world would any one pick that outfit to be photographed in? Come on, even terminally ill patients (which there is no indication he is) put decent clothes on sometimes!!

He certainly does, doesn't he? Same scar, too. Preliminary results with his possible sister are positive:

The clincher came in March, Barnes told the News, when preliminary DNA tests indicated he might be related to Pamela Horne. Her nearly-3-year-old brother was kidnapped on Long Island back in 1955.

More on the way to clinch. Fascinating story. BTT.

Wonder what he’s been using for a birth certificate.

This guy doesn't care about appearances.

I'd imagine this guy is all about substance.

He could care less about how people want to perceive him.

The pain his kidnapper put his family through must have been horrific.

He said he always knew he wasn't theirs...

I know a guy who was adopted by his mother's second husband when he was very young. They told him he was theirs, but he said he always knew he wasn't. He didn't find out and meet his real father until he was 50.

No difference in the agony.

Do you know what time of day the press came banging on his door? They don’t usually call ahead. They’re kinda rude that way.

I said the mother because she left him outside the store while she went in for bread.

I’m sure he didn’t pose for this just so it could be posted on the Internet. Hasn’t anyone ever snapped a picture of you when you weren’t dressed for publication?

“especially the mother” ? No one can love their children more than I as a father.

I was being snarky, but he does seem "posed". If the newspaper showed up at my house, the first thing I would do is change my clothes.

Teasing aside, I do hope things work out good for him, and he develops a long, strong bond with his sister.
