(WXYZ) - Workers in Michigan are again feeling the stinging effects of the struggling economy. According to Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth, Michigan's unemployment rate continues to worsen.
The unemployment rate jumped from 12.9 percent in April to 14.1 percent in May.
Major events continued to unfold in Michigans auto industry in May, which had a considerable impact on the states unemployment rate, said Rick Waclawek, director of DELEGs Bureau of Labor Market Information and Strategic Initiatives. Curtailed production negatively influenced suppliers and other related sectors, resulting in further weakening in the labor market.
Michigans jobless rate in May was the highest monthly rate recorded in the state since July 1983.
and that is just the official rate for the HopeN Change State
The Obama stimulus plan at work
“Hope” and “change”...
I guess they need to elect more liberals
Wonder what the unofficial rate is? I’m guessing somewhere north of 20%
Hmmm. . . how did Michigan vote last November?
It’s fun to watch liberals suffer as a result of their own actions. It’s especially funny when you see them not know why such things are happening to them. Such denial borders on psychosis.
and the main stream media fawns over Obambi’s fly swatting and sets up studios in the whitehouse for a mass Obambi-Demi Infomercial. Figures such as these no where to be found.
You really have to ask?
Well said (or written in this case :-).)
It will jump even higher in june, when the people who were let go in January from the furniture industry, begin to file for unemployment.
Such denial borders on psychosis.
What do you mean bordering??
Closing down car dealerships and selling off auto subsidiaries and partnerships is sure to help create new jobs. /sarc.
Hope and Change really means, “I hope I’ve got some change left in my pocket after Obama gets finished implementing his stimulus program”.
And obamy approval rating is still high in that State.
Filing for unemployment benefits has no effect on the unemployment rate, regardless of measure. The unemployment rate is calculated as the result of a survey, generally.
(Hey,at least the welfare checks arrive regularly)
