Perhaps they are trying to set some legal precedents for later when the targets will be more politically motivated!?

well gold coins with a face value are legal tender, so there shouldn’t be anything wrong about reporting what you were paid in using the face value

This is another reason why we need to pass The Fair Tax Act(HR25/S296) that will replace all federal income taxes with a national sales tax and abolish the IRS. Fair Tax ping!

If a US coin is clearly marked as worth $1 or $50 and I accept it as pay for a job my employer and I agree is worth, say, $200/wk where is the crime? Did I force the treasury to mismark their coins? Did I cheat my employer?
I don't think so.

Abolish the IRS. Repeal the 16th Amendment.
The Constitution already has taxation of Corporations in it. Private Individuals are not supposed to be continually taxed. Precedent is to tax ONLY in times of war.
And Congress isn’t supposed to be a life-time job, either. Repeal the 17th Amendment and return to selecting Senators as the Founding Fathers wanted. Article 1, Section 3 of the US Constitution.

Don’t mess with the IRS. They are not bound by the same law as cops.
You will loose, and loose big.

There was no indication what they were looking for or what crime, if any, was being investigated, just a blanket subpoena for voluminous and detailed records on every private citizen who dared to speak about a federal tax case.

this is really frightening.
i had written out a comment regarding a WSJ story on the IRS idiotic proposal to tax cellphones. But I decided not to post for this very reason. I guess it was a good call on my part. But rather frightening that we check our 1st amendment rights at the door of the IRS Building.
