Comparing apples and oranges isn't logic. We're not asking the Air Force to go back to using biplanes.
We don't need advanced capabilities over our own territory. F16's and F15's are more than capable.
BTW, how many F15's have been shot down in combat?

Pray tell me how that worked out for the Polish in WW2. Or the French.
Part of the function of a military is to be so overwhelmingly powerful and capable that nobody in their right mind would attack it.
