Healthcare: Obama’s Waterloo?
The Hill ^ | June 16, 2009 | Dick Morris

Posted on 06/16/2009 5:00:37 PM PDT by libstripper

To quote the esteemed Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the chickens that were hatched in the stimulus package are coming home to roost in the healthcare proposal. The budget deficit Obama racked up paying for the massive federal spending passed in January is now having a real economic and political impact, which is forcing the president and his congressional allies into hard choices as they face his healthcare legislation.

Of course, the prudent thing to do is postpone healthcare changes until the economy generates some revenues and trims the deficit. But the socialist in the White House can’t do that. He’s got to strike while his congressional majority is hot. So he is forcing his administration and his party to choose among unpalatable choices to finance his program. His demand may be a bridge too far, endangering his popularity with the American people.

It’s him or us. One of us will not make it, the other will live.

Hope he fails.

The windbag is still saying he won’t have to raise taxes on 95% of the people.

By reaching for the whole enchilada rather than nibbling around the edges as they have been doing for decades, Democrats are dooming the entire plan to defeat.

It would have been a difficult sale if we weren’t in a recession, but in the recession and on the heels of porkulus, it’s going down. Even Olympia Snowe is voicing opposition and there are quite a few Senate Democrats who are a good bit more conservative then she is.

Republicans will be blamed for the defeat, but in reality, Blue Dog Democrats will ensure non-passage.

Mucho popcorn will be needed when House, Senate and WH Democrats start sniping at each other trying to deflect blame for defeat. IMO, it will cost Pelosi her Speakership (which will delight the WH).

Healthcare aside, there is a sense of urgency for the administration to grab control of as much of the economy and political spectrum as possible in the shortest time possible and CHANGE OUR OPERATING SYSTEM (Constitutional Republic) as fast as possible. Paulson gained control over the treasury itself and Congress in a couple of inspirational and awe-inspiring days in partnership with the Federal Reserve. Obama intends to demonstrate massive one-upsmanship. He may have consolidated his position long before the 2010 elections if unopposed. Hopefully, haste that makes waste also makes errors that will stimulate some thoughtful and determined opposition. It needs to come soon. Converting a constitutional republic to a democracy and then to a totalitarian socialist state can be done in record time if there is no opposition. Obama has a head start and is moving with blitzkrieg speed. All democracies are short-lived, and none have turned to constitutional republics. Our country, of course, is a one-time world-wide exceptional positive event that will not be replaced and sorely missed if lost.

Waterloo was a European collective opposition to a cult leader of messianic proportions (Napoleon). Perhaps the 50 states will collectively awake and regain the initiative. Western US states are awaking to defend themselves as fast as they can to federal initiatives. They need to move faster.

If Obama stumbles on healthcare, more stumgling will follow. A great amount of stumbling has occurred already, but not noticed enough. FRP helps.

When will the Dick Morris Express run out of coal? I am so sick of this fat, toe-sucking moron. Is he EVER right? Can we ban him and maybe he’ll go away?

Perhaps Obama's "political capital" squandered, like his predecessor.

Perhaps.

Obama will do whatever it takes to wreck the economy. If this doesn’t pass, and I think it will, he’ll move on to whatever else he can gain control of. He’s like Dr. Ock from Spiderman, we can only sit by and watch in horror.
