WASHINGTON (AP) - An Obama administration official says the Treasury will propose the creation of a regulatory agency to protect consumers in their credit, savings and other banking transactions. The new agency is one of the central elements of President Barack Obama's overhaul of the financial regulatory system. The president is set to announce his broad plan on Wednesday.

Will he announce plans for new currency with his portrait on it too?? It can’t be long...
....and Freepers thought I was nutz when I pulled everything except operating funds from my nice, safe FDIC insured accounts a few months ago.
Hmmm, the people in Iran are storming the streets fighting the oppression over there. Maybe, over here...just thinking.
“Obama to propose new consumer agency “
This is how he creates jobs. The goal is for the whole country to work for the government.
Let me guess: The consumer czar.
We won’t.
At least we won’t until millions are out of work, have lost much of their worldly treasures, lost hope for a promising future, lost their freedoms, lost their country and have hungry families to feed.
So, it might not be too long of a wait.....
obama’s car czar has had no problem getting them to agree on an electric car ready for production,...........it’s
finding a damm extension cord that’s not long enough.
Let us face the fact that his health care plan is really a way to seize private health care funds to shore up Medicare and Medicaid. Then we have this> And next we will have them try Governement control of 401K, IRAs, and Private pension funds in order to shore up Social Security.
I can see it now. You’ll have your appointed “Government Mortgage Protection Advisor” at your side reviewing the hundreds of pages of docs you sign at closing, just to make sure you don’t sign up for something bad.
It seems that if despotism came to be established in the democratic nations of our day, it would have other characteristics: it would be more extensive and milder, and it would degrade men without tormenting them ...The sovereign extends its arms over society as a whole; it covers its surface with a network of small, complicated, painstaking, uniform rules through which the most original minds and the most vigorous souls cannot clear a way to surpass the crowd; it does not break wills but it softens them, bends them, and directs them; it rarely forces one to act, but it constantly opposes itself to one's acting; it does not destroy, it prevents things from being born; it does not tyrannize, it hinders, compromises, enervates, extinguishes, dazes, and finally reduces each nation to being nothing more than a herd of timid and industrious animals of which government is the shepherd ...

Someone pointed out to me that the government may be planning to further regulate all non-prescription food supplements and medications because every time they force a product to put warning labels, etc. they make money. This could be the beginning of a stealth tax campaign, starting with ZICAM for political reasons.
You’re right. But when I tried to cancel the card, I was told by the ACORN representative on the phone that Soreto will not allow me to cancel the card!
