(Aftermarketnews.com) Following the House's approval last week of a $4 billion "Cash for Clunkers" bill, Detroit News has reported that the House and Senate have now agreed to add a $1 billion Cash for Clunkers provision to a $106 billion war supplemental bill. This agreement calls for the same requirements as the measure approved by the House last week. Car owners could get a voucher worth $3,500 if they traded in a vehicle getting 18 miles per gallon or less for one getting at least 22 miles per gallon. The value of the voucher would grow to $4,500 if the mileage of the new car is 10 mpg higher than the old vehicle.
A compromise version of the two bills is expected to pass this week. (Tire Review/Akron)
...Democrats have included a $5 billion increase for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to help aid nations affected by the global financial crisis....
...Obama asked Congress to include $3.5 billion for flu prevention in the war funding bill, and Democrats responded with $7.7 billion, a bonanza for the public health community. The expanded sum includes $350 million to help state and local governments, including school districts.
Will that be actual mpg, or advertised mpg?
This crap is beyond disgusting. Total radical insanity. This ONE WORLD crap has to be stopped — meanwhile, America’s economy is being suppressed as we give away money to OTHER NATIONS.
This is sick.

The madness in Washington is out of control. These people must be restrained and confined for their own safety and ours. They are absolutely KRAZY!
There are lots of used vehicles rated at 22mpg and with selling prices of $3500.
When the huge depression in our future comes (and it must) the old vehicles will be gradually, bit by bit, be dismantled, each part being recycled into a new use, perhaps one the original manufacturer never imagined. The Suburbans and Expeditions can be made over into heavy-duty wagons, drawn by sturdy draft horses, or even oxen, as a way to transport goods to market. They may even be repowered by much smaller power units (say a Wisconsin V-4 aircooled engine), to serve as farm implements, for all the displaced factory workers who swarm back to the land, to till a little subsistance patch on the “Greenbelts” that will be created when some 70% of the city of Flint is knocked down.
And who knows, some of these old vans and SUVs are roomy enough to be living quarters.
Thanks
Used cars wouldn’t “stimulate” Government Motor Works...
Also, the voucher amount goes straight to the dealer. You don’t get trade in value plus the voucher because the cars are going to be destroyed. You just get the voucher amount credited toward the new car price.
You know, somedays I just want off this rock.
