Mullahs take the next step in the oppressor’s playbook.
I hope that having the world’s attention focused on Iran, the mullahs will be very careful as to how they treat Iranian protesters and leaders. I hope.
The media is largely obscuring what’s happening. Twitter is not good enough. There are much rumors in the room. I hope that our intelligence agencies (haha) have a better access to information. No one, absolutely no one can predict what will happen. There might be a Tiannamen by the radicals, there might be an internal coup by reformers and military versus radicals and Guards. The Guards themselves may desert Ahmadinejad and Co. Also how much will be achieved? Will only Nutjob go or also Khamenei. His position is shaking.
Hope that eventually the good forces win and that most importantly the new government won’t be willing or able to engage in their aggressive foreign policy anymore.
One thing for sure... the old ways of doing politics in Iran are dead. They know that they must respond to the interests of those people hitting the streets. This means economic prosperity, opening up towards the world, more social freedom and an end to the “12th Imam hastening” mindset, which is driving the country towards the abyss.
the iranian govt is simply paddling water until all the western journalists leave this week/next week when their visas expire...then the knives will come out.
whatever the iranian who are against the govt do, they better do it this week.
