The United States is urging Iran to agree to a meeting with the six key nations trying to ensure that its nuclear program is peaceful in which the US will be a full participant.
US deputy ambassador Rosemary DiCarlo said Monday that Iran had not responded to the request from the five permanent council members - the US, Russia, China, Britain and France - and Germany for new talks.
The talks would be the first international discussion on Iran's nuclear program since US President Barack Obama took office in January.
DiCarlo told the UN Security Council that the United States remains committed to direct diplomacy with Iran to resolve the nuclear issue and will engage Teheran on the basis of mutual respect.
Does anyone know who is in charge there.
In reality, the bighead Khameni
Oh they’ll agree to talk, that’s easy. Then they’ll pose for pictures, and say how wonderful it is that nations can agree to work things out, and how they’re looking forward to more talks...all the while the labs are going 24/7.
‘mutual respect’??
Unbelievable!
Don’t you find O’s national security policies just plain comical??? Like Nutjob’s REALLY gonna listen! Get serious.
Talk is cheap. Just ask the “Great Apologizer”, Ubu Hussein.
“At a press conference in late May 2009, Ahmadinejad announced that following Iran’s June 12 presidential election, talks with the U.S. would continue in the framework of the 5+1, but not on the nuclear issue, because this issue “had already been resolved.” He added: “We continue our activities within framework of [International Atomic Energy] Agency regulations. At any rate, negotiations will be merely over world management and sustainable peace and security for entire nations; the Iranian nation will not permit anyone to enter into talks with us [on subjects] outside the regulations of the [IAEA].” [5]
At a May 29, 2009 meeting with Iranian academics, Ahmadinejad said: “The Americans keep sending us messages for negotiation. We are ready to (hold) talks and cooperate. Of course, we are ready to cooperate in global management, global disarmament, and resolving global problems under equal conditions I should say that Irans nuclear issue has been resolved and it is over.” [6] “

I have the feeling Obama is telling State to send note after note after note to A-jad for a meeting, not understanding why a note from Obama doesn’t bring fawning obedience.
5 UNSecCon perm members= 5 + Germany = 6 + Iran = 7
Non-perm UNSecCon members = 10
Doesn't this show we are recognizing Ahmadinejad the winner of the election?
The administration knows he’s going to be named the winner, though it really doesn’t matter to them who the president there is....they will engage even the most vile among them.
They better pull that invite back until the election stealing thug is run out or strung up.
I said this on another thread and I’ll say it again. Now is the opportune time to bomb Iran’s nukes. The leadership is in disarray and cannot be trusted plus they are a threat to democracy and freedom loving peoples. If the USA leadership had any balls they would team up with Israel and bomb those nuke facilities pronto. It would draw in so much world attention and the revolution in Iran would gain strength.
Alas...we have no leadership or men with cajones! The little monkey man and mullahs will be back to old tricks soon enough and more heavy handed than ever!
