CBO Says Dem Health Care Bill To Increase Deficit By At Least $1 TRILLION

The CBO has just released its initial cost estimates on the Democratic health care proposal coming out of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee chaired by Ted Kennedy, and found that it would increase deficits by at least $1 trillion.

In addition, the CBO report undercuts President Obama's insistence that those who like the coverage they have can keep it, as it projects millions of Americans would lose their current coverage

All this talk of deficits ignores an even more salient issue, which is the national debt. All the deficit amounts to is the amount of debt we’re adding to our already existing debt. It’s like charging more on a credit card that’s already maxed out.

Politicians and strategists praise Patrick Gaspard highly, although he stays away from the limelight.

"Patrick is the best political mind of his generation in New York and maybe the nation," says Kevin Sheekey, who as Michael Bloomberg's right-hand-man has frequently worked and battled with Gaspard.

"I wouldn't dispute that," said David Axelrod, Obama's chief strategist and Gaspard's cohort on the campaign trail. When reminded that such a title could be bestowed on Axelrod himself, the strategist said he was "happy to cede that" to Gaspard.

The Washington Post, among others, has announced that a longtime labor operative of Barack Obama's, Patrick Gaspard, will be named Obama's White House political director.

Gaspard served as national political director for much of Obama's general election campaign and was named deputy director of personnel for the transition effort. Prior to his work with Obama, Gaspard was the lead political operative for the 1199 branch of the Service Employees International Union, a huge and hugely influential union representing health care workers in New York. He spent the 2004 general election as the national field director for America Coming Together.

Gaspard was featured prominently in Ryan Lizza's recent New Yorker piece detailing how Obama won. Of his job interview with the Illinois Senator, Gaspard recalled Obama saying: "I think that I'm a better speechwriter than my speechwriters. I know more about policies on any particular issue than my policy directors. And I'll tell you right now that I'm gonna think I'm a better political director than my political director."

Reasons Liberals use to argue for universal health care:

Cost is out of control - Yes the cost is out of control, but it is out of control because Medicare and Medicaid underpay doctors significantly causing them to raise the premiums of everyone else to make up the difference. This and the required mountain of government paperwork along with increased liability are the real reasons costs have spiraled out of control.

Obama says you will be able to keep your current plan if you choose. This is an outright deception. The fact is, most people don’t “choose” their insurance they receive whatever plan their employer offers. Once a “free” government alternative is available… how long do you think it will be before you employer will “choose” the free government plan for you and pocket the savings?

Cost savings will help pay for it by eliminating billions in needless and costly tests… Hm…needless eh? You mean the tests your doctor ordered in your best interest that will now be unavailable because some bureaucrat in Washington decided to save a few bucks at your expense?

President Johnson estimated covering health insurance for 15% of the population (Medicare) would cost $500 billion. It currently has an unfunded liability of $75 trillion. Hussein wants to cover 100% of the population. The numbers are not worth tallying, because they are insurmountable. If this passes, people will die left and right due to rationed health care, and the US will eventually default on its debt.

We have the best health care in the world. All we need to due is massive tort reform, and get the government out of the health industry. Cap rewards, and invoke the loser pays clause for junk lawsuits. Hold the attorney’s personally liable for payment if they show a pattern of filling junk lawsuits...don’t allow the attorney the ability to hide behind LLCs and law firm trusts and not pay up. Make attorneys fear losing everything if they file crap.
