Best analysis I've read by a leading expert on Iran.

No, it was and always has been an election in disguise.

The article said — Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has the last word on all issues of national life, published a long statement hailing Mr. Ahmadinejad’s “historic victory” as “a great celebration.”
—
Considering Ayatollah Ali Khamenei supported Ahmadinejad from the beginning, that’s not a real big surprise... LOL...

Either one would be as bad, but maybe not as vocal as the Little Horn. The mullahs control everything, including the elections. Even if the challenger wins, Israel is still in danger, as is the rest of the world, especially Europe. It’s like deciding who will be your executioner....................

Iran has redefined dead people voting...
You see not only do diseased `martyrs` (murderers) come back to vote... Their 72 virgins get to come to earth and vote for Imanutjob as well. That is how you get a 2-1 margin.

And our media elites still perpetuate the myth that life there is better now than when Iran was under the Shah.

Believing that he has already defeated the United States, Mr. Ahmadinejad will be in no mood for compromise. Moments after his victory he described the U.S. as a "crippled creature" and invited President Obama to a debate at the United Nations General Assembly, ostensibly to examine "the injustice done by world arrogance to Muslim nations."Let's see how the sycophantic media spin this in regard to zero's Cairo speech.

"Mr. Ahmadinejad also plans to seize the assets of hundreds of mullahs and their business associates for redistribution among the poor. In his speech at his victory rally yesterday he promised to "dismantle the network of corruption,..."Hmmmmm. Sounds familiar. Where have I heard this sort of language before?

I think ACORN was involved. (tee hee)

Excellent article! The real question is how will 0zero react? He has chosen to hide for the last 3 days and send HilBeast and Stand Up Joe out to craft the administration response of “We are monitoring the situation closely”. Wow, such leadership!
0zero has got himself in a box. Does he fulfil his campaign promise of negotiating with Iran without preconditions, thereby legitimizing an illegitimate regime?
You can bet Ozero will never say democracy prevailed in Iran and the people rejected his “Hope & Change” Cairo speech. Instead, 0zero will blame the hardline policies of GWBush are what strengthened “I’m A Nut Job”, and because of that he has no choice but to try the diplomacy that GWBush rejected with a fraudulant leader.
Of course all the diplomacy will fail and “I’m A Nut Job” will just get stronger and bolder until he lights the fuse that ultimately blows up the Middle East.

On another thread
Iran's Military Coup, is another theory. Ahmadinejad is the favorite of the Pasdaran (the Revolutionary Guard), since he was one of them.
Think of this as a conflict between factions within the ruling elite.

I'd put it - no, because it isn't disguised. It is plain as a pikestaff about always has been, like everything else about Iran. A fact studiously avoided by the pinheaded left of the developed world, because it involves a kind of moral clarity they fear above all things.
