Police were called early Sunday to the home Manuel Salvador Morales Jr. shared with his parents because relatives said Morales was threatening himself with knives. Police spokesman Tom Nichols says two officers confronted Morales, who was armed and failed to comply with their commands. No additional details about the confrontation or how Morales was armed were released.
Nichols says Officer Albert Riccardi fired two shots at Morales, who was hit twice in the torso and pronounced dead at a hospital.

Let me guess.
You are married to a cop and they can do no wrong.
Am I close?
It is standard. If you are involved in any type of incident that is under investigation you get put on leave.
The police sheepishly move out of the way while the perp-hotage-in-one makes a clean escape. One reason it was so funny was because in our PC world, it is so believable.
Who said cops can do no wrong? You have a horrible habit of putting words in people’s mouths and knowing what has happened in an incident that has been generally reported in print.
Your sweeping assumptions are breathtaking. Unbelievable. Normally I don’t even respond to posts like yours because you are inclined to believe what you want to believe. I am glad you know so much.
I’ll wait for the invesitgation and more information.
Ok. Lessee here, the worst-case outcome would have been the same had the police not been called. With a good chance of an improved outcome, again, had they not been called.
Yes, I know, there are good police. But you can’t tell the difference by looking.
You aare definately lacking in the logic department. How you can come to that conclusion is beyond me but let me clear it up for you. Cops shouldn't respond to calls to prevent a suicide attempt by shooting and killing the person they were called to HELP!
‘Blazing Saddles’
I stated it as a possibility, I did so because I do not know any more information than you. You aren’t stating possibilities, you are emphatically saying the officers were at fault and possilby murderers. It is unnecessary to do so, and I doubt you will follow up with an apology if they are cleared.
I have a friend who is a cop. He states that between 40% and 60% are total scumbags. Thiefs, rapists, druggies, wife beaters and the kind who will beat the bejeezus out of a handcuffed person they arrrested for having two beers and driving home, just for fun.
You are the reason Free Republic gets a bad name.
“No additional details about the confrontation or how Morales was armed were released.”
The cops always seem to lawyer up immediately. Don’t want any conflicting stories. There not stupid...
Your friend needs to find another Office or Department to work for.
Yeah, “Thanks for comin’, guys! Glad that’s over with.”

How do you know these officers weren’t in danger or threatened? Again, please report your eyewitness account because they need your information.
“They were there to help” does not mean they weren’t being threatened. Cops respond to all types of calls “to help” and the situation is not always as described by dispatch.
You know it all don’t you? Glad someone does.
I think the numbers are pretty typical, from what i’ve seen. He works for a far better than average department, too.
Not so fast. You stated
Sounds like a possible suicide by cop.
And I replied.
Sounds more like murder by cop...
That's what you call emphatic? I said it sounds like murder by cop...and to me it does.
It’s 30 feet, which is why most cops and military use that distance as the outer edge of handgun training and qualifying. I usually blow at least half a box at 45 feet, but that may be because I’m chicken...
