Leon Panetta in the gutter (suggests Dick Cheney's wishing that America would be attacked again)
American Thinker ^ | 6/15/2009 | Cliff Thier

CIA head Leon Panetta, a former politician, has not strayed from his roots, despite his obligation to be above politics. The Associated Press reports that Panetta has told the New Yorker that Dick Cheney's criticism of Obama administration policies almost suggests "he's wishing that this country would be attacked again, in order to make his point."

Can you imagine George Tenet stating in 2001 that he thought that a Democratic critic of the Bush administration wanted Americans to die to prove a point?

This is proof that a political hack like Panetta shouldn't be running what is supposed to be a nonpolitical intelligence service like the CIA. There has never been an intelligence chief before Panetta who was a professional politician who had no intelligence background. Imagine the screams of outrage if Bush had appointed Karl Rove to head the CIA in 2001.

After all the phony charges that Bush had somehow intimidated intelligence professionals to doctor intelligence reports, Obama then appoints someone like Panetta.

So who’s surprised? Panetta was always a guttersnipe.

A despicable comment by a despicable political hack intent on the further politicization of our national security.

Also interesting is that Panetta is trying to draw Cheney back into a discussion which has cooled off and died back into the media archives. What's the purpose of trying to draw Cheney back into a debate? Panetta has been advised to make these accusations for some reason. Perhaps to create another distraction or scenario or etc.

Leon Panetta in the gutter (suggests Dick Cheney's wishing that America would be attacked again)

Another testament to the quality of the government that Obama voters wanted...and deserve. It's just damned bad luck that the rest of us have to endure it, too.

I think I see Panetta’s logic: If (when)we get hit again it will be Dick Cheney’s fault ‘cause he wished really, really hard for it to happen. Hey, the DU crowd will buy it.

Irony here.

I remember all the bantering about democrats decrying the inevitable failures of the war in Iraq. I remember their hoping for failure to fulfill their vitriolic intellectual bile.

They were rooting for defeat and used every setback for political gain. Now, some political honesty to continue what has been a successful defense of this country has this poptart pissing in MSM ears about the hatred of Cheney and hopes for another attack.

Hey, Piniata! Interrogations is what has prevented several attacks on US troops and targets. Extreme Muslims and terrorists alike are wanting to kill innocent Americans and soldiers alike. They don't discriminate.

Cheney is announcing that what Bush did was successful and what BO is wanting to do is dangerous. He is trying to save lives.

Just a suggestion.....wouldn’t it be better to have someone who is actually intelligent in charge of Intelligence?

That suggests that Panetta was put there to be a political mouthpiece for the Obama Administration, and nothing more.

Panetta works for a Marxist wannabe, so I wouldn’t take his remarks seriously.

To be fair, their was one that I can think of -- GHW Bush was a former congressman, former head of the RNC, and CIA Director for about one year at the end of the Ford administration. I suppose he had some Intel background after having spent a year or so as Envoy to China, and I don't recall Bush playing any politics while at CIA. He was viewed as a 'straight shooter' at the time.

When aren’t the dems in the gutter? They and their media hacks love the gutter. It’s their home.

As I said on another thread, when the attack comes, the Democratic talking point will be: "Dick Cheney goaded the terrorists into attacking us."

Cheney ought to demand a press conference. Demand that these people let him defend himself.
