CIA Director Leon Panetta says former Vice President Dick Cheney's criticism of the Obama administration's approach to terrorism almost suggests "he's wishing that this country would be attacked again, in order to make his point."
Panetta told The New Yorker for an article in its June 22 issue that Cheney "smells some blood in the water" on the issue of national security.

Panetta has long been an advocate for the health of the world's oceans. As a member of Congress from California’s 16th District, he wrote numerous successful acts of Congress to protect the California coast, including legislation creating the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary.
Panetta and his wife founded the Leon & Sylvia Panetta Institute for Public Policy’ in December 1998, where they serve as the Institute’s directors.

In June 2002 the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops put him on their National Review Board, which was created to look into the Catholic Church's sexual abuse scandal. This created controversy because of Panetta’s pro-choice stands on abortion and other views seen as conflicting with those of the Church.
Panetta married Sylvia Marie Varni, who administered his home district offices during his terms in Congress.

This whole thing is akin to the claims the Bush admin questioned the patriotism of anyone who disagreed with its policies. Of course, with the exception of a rather innocuous comment by Ari Fleischer, no one ever did. Yet, here’s an Obama official actually claiming that someone who disagrees with Obma “wants the terrorists to attack”. Again, this should be a major news story. Again, Panetta should be forced to apologize. Again, if it doesn’t happen then the MSM is in Obama’s pocket and all is lost.

In December 1966 [NY] Times reporter Harrison Salisbury became the first American journalist allowed in North Vietnam. Salisbury has previously been the Times’ Soviet correspondent. His entry to North Vietnam was arranged by Wilfred Burchett, an Australian journalist who worked for the KGB and for the pro-Vietcong news outlet Dispatch News Service.
Dispatch News Service had been founded by the Marxist think tank the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS), linked to Soviet and Cuban intelligence. IPS financier Philip Stern also funded the Fund for Investigative Journalism, which paid for upcoming reporter Seymour Hersh to research allegations of atrocities committed by US soldiers at My Lai. Hersh’s My Lai story was provided by Dispatch News to the New York Times.
The Times’ coverage of My Lai inspired the European-based Soviet front group the International War Crimes Tribunal, whose conferences Burchett had attended, to launch an American arm of its investigation. The Tribunal’s call for an American investigation led to what became the Vietnam Veterans Against the War’s Winter Soldier investigation, which prompted the Senate hearings that propelled John Kerry to fame. After running Hersh’s My Lai story and covering Kerry’s war crimes allegations, the Times and IPS helped Pentagon consultant Daniel Ellsberg leak The Pentagon Papers, a selectively-edited account of US policy in Vietnam calculated to discredit the US war effort.
