DON'T BE HARD ON GM'S NEW CHAIRMAN EDWARD WHITACRE for confessing during an interview last week that he knows nothing about cars. He simply suffered a Joe Biden moment. Texans often tumble over their tongues when taking a stab at humility. In fact, few car companies, let alone their CEOs, know how to build cars, which is why so many of them are conking out. The Obama administration, in my view, picked Whitacre to run General Motors (ticker: GM) because he has a more important talent: He knows how to play Chicago-style politics.

i made the same argument about what ALan did prior to Ford. I defended the hire because Whitacre has experience running big business. Know about cars is secondary. What I didn’t know is his connection to Chicago pols and how he has helped some of the scumbags that are now in Obama’s administration. That’s a game changers that exposes why this guy was picked.
I wonder how the guy feels to be the second choice, it seems that even after an extensive review of his first choice they overlooked the fact that he was a convicted murder, or maybe they did’nt, so they had to go to number two.

Yes, following it. MSM is being very cautious if not hardline. Not sure about this Mousavi dude, but I don’t think all those Iranians in the streets are there just to crown him king. There’s much more to this.
I think Obama is looking for his own Tony Blair. If Obama can topple the Mullahs and work with a new leftie head of Iran, he’s invincible and the middle east focuses on destroying Israel. Plus, Obama would be empowered at home so his rampage against traditional American values would accelerate. While it would be good for Iran to be liberated from the Islamic nightmare, having that occur on Obama’s watch would be VERY dangerous...
The CEO does need to have knowledge of manufacturing and the marketing of manufacturing.
Whitacre doesn’t.
