Mr Ahmadinejad condemned the outside world for "psychological warfare" against Iranians during the election.
Thousands have protested against the result, burning barricades on the streets of Tehran and clashing with police, who responded with tear gas.
Reformist candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi urged his supporters to avoid violence.
Mr Ahmadinejad is due to hold a news conference on Sunday, followed by a huge victory rally.
'Down with the dictator'
Speaking on national television, Mr Ahmadinejad praised the Iranian people for choosing to "look toward the future" rather than returning to the past.
"This is a great victory at a time and condition when the whole material, political and propaganda facilities outside of Iran and sometimes... inside Iran, were total mobilised against our people," he said.
He blamed "foreign media" for instigating a "full-fledged fight against our people".
"Nearly 40 million people took part in a totally free election," he said.
BBC Iranian affairs analyst Sadeq Saba says the margin of the win was so wide that it made a lot of people suspicious.

Where is the Mossad when you need them?
Circumstances on the ground, make Iran more primed for targeted strikes.
Imagine the unrest, if Iran’s primary refinery complex was hit (as part of an anti-nuke raid). A counter-revolution would rival that if 1979.
Persons twittering from inside Iran, are asking CNN to actually show what’s going on there right now (a march on the election HQ 30,000 strong).
I think you are right Israel striking now would destabilize the situation even more and might even overthrow the Ayatollahs Regime.
Just for fun, I’ve been writing this story about Iran and its nuclear program and corrupt regime. The CIA works with the Iranian dissenters and they start a revolution around the same time that Israel takes out the nuclear facilities, waiting until the Iranian regime is crippled to do so.
Prophecy or pure coincidence? ;) lol
Look carefully....
If Israel doesn't take full advantage of this destabilized state of affairs right now, their whole government needs to be fired.
They could force the ouster of Ahmadinejad and the mullahs with the precise application of conventional force against key targets.
This would be a good time for special forces to take out the mullahs. Unfortunately, Obama won't be giving that order so someone else will have to do it this time...
it would be a lot cleaner than nuking the place and angering these patriots.
I wonder what’s going through Bibi’s mind right about now?
Wouldn’t hurt to have a little of that CIA action ‘Bama apologized for...
Plenty. He’s a very smart chess player and he’s not going to preside over the demise of Israel.
We are excited to see what appears to be a robust debate taking place in Iran," Obama told reporters when asked about the Iranian election during an event at the White House.
Whoever ends up winning the election in Iran, the fact there has been a robust debate hopefully will advance our ability to engage them in new ways, he said.
I hope the Oval Office empty suit remains excited about what appears to be a robust debate taking place in Iran.
Wasn’t Jammah Cahtah there and didn’t Jammah Cahtah certify the erection as true? After all, Jammah never met an erection he didn’t admire.
CNN doesn’t want us getting any ideas over here...
