That joke seems to acknowledge a problem with the situation — Edwards was in trouble for it. It was a knock at Edwards, not Palin. The Letterman joke called statutory rape “uncomfortable” when done in a baseball stadium ... and seemed to target a child, not A-Rod. [By the way, am I the only one that doesn’t get the joke? Why A-Rod? Has A-Rod knocked-up someone? I get the Edwards joke ... the A-Rod one is a bit lost on me.]

To be fair — I think there has been some overreaction. Letterman is what he is. It was a tasteless obnoxious joke. It wasn’t the first. It won’t be the last. And there are much greater offenders than Letterman.

you want to see over reaction, a big name conservative should make a snarky joke about lettermans wife and them having a child out of wedlock..THAT will bring an over reaction from the left that would make this letterman dustup look like childs play..

Letterman’s motive was to bring political and social harm to Palin and her family.

Lefterman is a symptom, not the disease. Actually, there are thousands of loquacious hacks with Dave's meager abilities that the network could put in his time slot. So, I agree; it's really not just Depraved Dave. SeeBS, like the other two broadcast giants have been rotting at their cores for too long. They are in need of swift and fiscally brutal attention. And Lefterman has provided a handy club with which to punish one of the chief offenders--SeeBS.
