Presidential Office: "Won't discuss it at the upcoming summit. Could cause misunderstanding if we link it to N. Korean nuclear test."

On June 12, ruling party's policy committee publicly called for both S. Korean and U.S. governments to allow the 'Restoration of Peaceful Nuclear Sovereignty,' on the eve of S. Korea-U.S. summit, which is viewed as a prelude to things to come. Instead of pushing S. Korean government to 'raise this issue right now at the upcoming summit, it would serve as a message to U.S. that if America continue to avoid getting tough on N. Korea, push for peaceful nuclear sovereignty would continue.

The ruling party revealed that they need to push 'peaceful nuclear sovereignty ' as a counterweight, just in case U.S. accepts N. Korea as a nuclear state. As a matter of fact, some in U.S. suggest that 'N. Korea is already a nuclear state' while evaluating N. Korea's nuclear capability. In this context, push for completed nuclear cycle(note: right to reprocess spent nuclear material) advocated by the ruling party is reminding U.S. that 'S. Korea cannot afford to do nothing' if U.S. acquiesces N. Korea's nuclear weapons.

I’ve heard dems say republicans don’t focus on the economy enough. And I’ll say that’s not an entirely false statement. Afterall, the ‘economy’ keyword wasn’t all too prevalent till sept of last year.

But in respects to foreign policy, the dems are no where...but dream land. There sense of focus is sad and dangerous. With the economy, things will pass...but with nucluer weapons, you only have one try. So I hope Obama gets his act together. For the sake of this country.

This reminds me of an old game I used to play online, back in 1985 or so, called "Empire." It dates back to the early 70's, and is text-based. You'd build roads, factories, towns, cities, etc, gather resources from the randomized map, and build your empire.

A old friend of mine applied a "nuclear weapons" patch, and the usual end result of every game thereafter was the utter devastation of nearly every country on the map.

The US has already accepted North Korean nukes. And Iranian nukes. Under Obama, we'd accept Haiti getting nukes if it could afford them.

North Korea is China's deniable proxy. They aren't going to do a damn thing to restrain them. In fact, they will flack for North Korea and make sure no sanctions have any real effect on it. As far as China is concerned, a North Korean nuke they can deny as their own, is an "assassin's mace" any time they feel the need for it. Expecting any help from China on the subject is delusional; it is like hoping for Hitler to rein in Mussolini...

I hear that handling mace requires proper skill, without which it has the tendency to bash its owner's head.:-)
