Texas is one of the few states that has, and could once again, stand as its own country if it chose to do so. Other than Texas or Alaska I don’t see what other states could operate as their own countries.

If Austria is able to function as a country, virtually every state but Massachusetts ought to be able to do so.

True; and IIRC at the end of the last Civil War, Texas was the only state in the Confederacy that had no Union troops in residence - Texas went 3-2 against Union troops in set piece battles, with the last three battles going to Texas.

LOL, it’s only a matter of time before it happens. Texas will need to annex Oklahoma and Louisiana.
