Lawrence is the San Francisco of Kansas.
Time to move east to Overland Park and teach at a Blue Valley school.
Lawrence is liberal.
San Fran/New Orleans/Rio AND North Korea — especially for conservative teachers (those NOT into “group-think,” that is.)
Lawrence is kind of a strange town. Because of the University of Kansas, which is in Lawrence, it is a very liberal town. At the same time, the people living outside of town, or the people who have been there for generations, are often rather conservative. Liberals like to call Lawrence a “liberal oasis in a conservative desert.”
KU, after all, is the home of Dr. Paul Mirecki. Need I say more?
God bless him for taking a stand. Prayers for him and his family.

If this is happening in Kansas, imagine the bias in places like Seattle, California, and NYC.
I wouldn't want to be a history or science or English teacher these days. Probably the safest option would be gym teacher or math teacher.
I don’t mind a teacher or professor saying he is liberal or conservative, in fact I think they should, as long as they give a fair presentation of each side’s ideas.
In my experience almost no liberals will give a fair presentation of the conservative side but a few conservatives will give the liberal side a fair hearing.
There are five iron rules for teachers, and violating one or more is the reason that most teachers are fired.
1) The teacher was hired to teach a class, and they are not doing so.
2) The teacher is offending their students and their students parents.
3) The teacher is irritating other teachers, their department chair, and administrators.
4) The teacher is offending the community.
5) Fraternization.
Non-teachers are often quick to criticize this list, but it has been around, to my knowledge, since the 1920s, and probably before. There are many teachers who just cannot control themselves, and will violate the rules time and again, get fired, then move to a new school district.
Yet another “WTF?” from Kansas. It’s right next door to Oklahoma. What the hell is wrong with Kansas?
Just damn. I lived in Lawrence in the late 50’s and early 60’s. Attended Cordley Elementary School and Central Junior High. It was a VERY cool place in those days.

my son’s teacher during 2004 election, had a 6 foot cardboard of President Bush, and had a sign on referencing President Bush’s “lack of intelligence”. (according to lefties)
apparently the school didn’t mind.
There are issues by the thousands that do not deserve “fair presentation”.
Just a few examples:
* How could any teacher give a “fair presentation” over Obama’s stand on infants born alive after a botched abortion? How can a teacher be “fair” about leaving a living infant in utility room sink to shiver to death?
* Can one be “fair” about the 100 million killed by communist fascist tyrants?
* Let's be “fair” about primitive cultures using human sacrifice. ( Yeah right!)
Education is **never** religiously, politically, or culturally neutral. It is impossible. All schools have non-neutral religious, political, and cultural consequences. This is axiomatic.
