MANY PEOPLE in the field of genetics are mourning the murder of Dr. George Tiller as the loss of a personal friend. I'm one of them. I first met George in 1987 at a conference of the National Society of Genetic Counselors, where I was executive director for 18 years until 2005. He and his incredibly loyal staff - whom he treated with great generosity - had developed a procedure that provided excellent medical care but also respect and emotional support to the women who came to him for help.

Where the hell is the barf alert?
BARF!
I really don’t care if he was a “nice guy”.
His deeds speak for themselves.
Mengele was a family man, and Hitler had Himmler move his family into the bunker for safety.
It’s like they said of Uncle Bob: when he wasn’t drunk he was the soberest guy you’d ever want to know.
Jeffry Dahmer was known as a nice shy guy..
Anyone doing what he did cannot be a nice guy and anyone who likes him is also a monster. There is just no other way it can be.
Tiller was beyond the pale of civilized or human behavior.
you mean Goebbels.
This story rates a double barf. barf, barf.
I don’t think anyone will be supporting this Nice guy stuff.
He has killed a bunch of babies.
Saying "it'll all be over soon" after injecting babies with deadly saline solution and then telling mothers to push their dead babies into the toilet isn't exactly emotional support.
Very gentle people:
Jeffrey Dahmer
Ted Bundy
Charles Manson
etc
Psychopaths are often gentle right up to the time the slit someone’s throat
Really now, and what does this "Society" actually do? Advocate genocide?
I’m sorry...I don’t really have strong opinions about early term abortions but, if you’re doing what this guy did, you aren’t a “nice” person. Period.
Nice guys don’t kill babies.
Herr und Frau Goebbles were the nicest parents of them all. They had their 6 daudgters killed by injection before they killed themselves.
Little club-footed *sshole.
Well give that guy a round of applause.
So was Ted Bundy.
I’m certain Josef Mengele had friends, too.
Look, it’s one thing to terminate a late term pregnancy if there’s a legitimate medical issue. I’m not talking about killing a baby to assuage the mom’s mental discomfort. I’m talking about cases where the continued existence of the baby is an immediate threat to the mom’s survival (or vice versa). I bet those cases are extremely rare: cancer, automobile accidents, etc.
This is about an evil mass murderer who knowingly chopped up babies who were perfectly healthy in some (most?) cases, babies who probably could have been delivered safely. No, I won’t mourn a murderer’s death.
Do I think he should have been gunned down? That’s a tough one. If you had the capability to stop a murderer before he murdered again, would you? This is akin to science fiction fans debating whether or not it would be moral to go back and kill Hitler if they had a time machine.
I wouldn’t have killed him, but I acknowledge the heavy moral issues governing abortion. That is something the left is apparently unwilling to do. They are lionizing the man with absolutely no apparent concern for whether or not he destroyed perfectly healthy, late term babies. That’s sickening.
The truth is, violence is sometimes justified. So, would you kill Hitler if you had a time machine?
