Leonardo da Vinci, in a Renaissance version of Mad Magazine, may have painted his famous Mona Lisa in a number of ways, including nude. Now, a painting has surfaced that looks much like the original, sparking debate over just how far the master took his iconic painting.
The newly revealed painting, hidden for almost a century within the wood wall of a private library, shows a portrait of a half-naked woman with clear links to the famous (and clothed) Mona Lisa.
The work, which documents suggest was at least based on never-seen similar work by da Vinci, is now on exhibit at the Museo Ideale in the Tuscan town of Vinci, where da Vinci was born in 1452.
The lady in the portrait does not exactly resemble the original Mona Lisa, but there is little doubt it has parallels with the painting hanging at the Louvre museum in Paris.

It looks like a parody. OTOH, in those days, nudes of women did not look realistic because it was forbidden to paint nudes. But you would think Leonardo would be a bit more familiar with the female anatomy, unless he was celibate or homosexual.

He WAS celibate, hence, speculation he was homosexual. I don’t buy it.
There are several other Mona Lisa paintings said to have been painted by Leonardo. One was written up and photographed for Life, POST or LOOK about 35 years ago.
EXACTLY!!! No nursing for her!!! Not to mention she must have hit the gym at least 3x’s a week for some serious biceps curls, lat pulldowns and tricep kickbacks!!!

It looks like a guy, and someone painted on the breasts.
I think he painted a nude guy, and added the breasts and the hairdo.
Done by a student. Perhaps a gay student who used a man as a model. The hands are awkward, the angle of the head incorrect, the neck anatomically wrong. The artist has painted a man’s upper body and stuck weird breasts on it, then perched a woman’s head sideways on it. That thing has the shoulders, ribs, and arms of a man. And breasts don’t go that way. I refuse to believe Leonardo could be so misinformed about the differences between males and females, even if (as has been alleged) he was gay. This is just a bad painting.
Whatever that is, it should definitely not be allowed to reproduce.
Has this painting been authenticated as a da Vinci? I’m no art expert, but I have seen, let’s see, three real da Vinci paintings in person now, and this one just looks ... fake. The composition sucks, which is most unlike him. I’m smelling hoax.
